Forum loyalty

Forced off the wild camping road 5½ years ago, by health problems. Still regretting it, but we've got wonderful memories and made many friends.

After 20 years of wandering and dithering, more often than not , setting out, without a clue about where we'd sleep, that night.
Life was like living in a computer game . We'd tootle along until a dragon would appear in our way.
Accidents, breakdowns etc...

Sometimes they were pleasant experiences. But the roaring firey ones had to be either slain or outsmarted.

We followed the course of the Napoleonic Peninsular wars, using the Sharpe series of books. Hair raising stuff.

Returning to UK for the 4, allegedly. " Summer", months.
We met many of the backbone members at meets, rallies or wild places.
We still need our daily fix of this fantastic website.

We also keep an eye on the posh folk, on Motorhomer. To see how the other half lives.

So, its been a while since I last posted as things hit the fan and life took me in various time demanding directions - but I always loved this forum, and it was a thrill to see this thread, to scroll through and and see many names I have shared conversation with across the years and even met in person.

Hello to you all, I'm still going and so is Daenerys, though shes had to have welding done now and many replacement parts and its only a matter of time before the engine has to come out to address her sticking ring gear! That said, I have to raise a glass to the VW T4 1.9D who I've now had for about 8 or 9 years and who has taken me on many adventures, and also to also raise a toast to this forum. 🍷

So much has changed in this world over ths last few years and its good to see this continuing spot of stability, support and common sense!

Love, live and laugh... always

I would love to come to Ireland again - we came twice and I just love it there. It appears however, that with age, time goes faster and demands on it just get higher! am off to Lincolnshire tomorrow in the van though for some much needed nature reserve downtime ;)

Ive just spent a year writing a new book and am in the lull before it gets published....

I hope you and your family are all doing well!

i only use two motorhome forums here and motorhomer ,
I try to read and post on one or the other most day just to keep abreast of whats happening with friends or vans,
Ive looked at other forums and in the past have joined then regretted paying the fees, if we meet someone out on the road Wild camping forum will at some point come up in the conversation ,
During my work life after 16 stressful hours i used to umwind and relax with this forum,
We have neen members for over ten years and appreciate the banter, the advise and the friendship, so

Thankyou Phil and all the contributors to my daily fix of Wild Camping motorhoming pleasure
Thanks Andy.

This forum is a real online community, members here treat other members like their neighbours (hopefully better). Many lifelong friendships and enemies have been forged here. Members have shared the ebbs and flows of their lives and been cheered and supported. The banter on this forum is second to none.

Yep, many a time I've been lucky and woken up with me dinner on fire in the oven.

At least now I'm going all electric I can use the timer.
Rob, we were hammering on the door at Henley on Arden when your burglar alarm was screaming incessantly, it took ages to wake you up! You need to set up a lump hammer that drops on your face when the alarm is due to go off!

I never set the alarm when we go away in the van now Ral.

Tilly is the only security we need and you wouldn't want her coming at you!

Just looked up how long I have been a member...nearly thirteen years! Love the forum, go on sister site too but sometimes don't visit every day or even week. Only met a few members, I have interacted online with many. Received valuable advice and reactions from the other members. Don't feel the need to go on other forums, although once forayed into MHFun which was NOT!
Phil does a great job keeping the balance on the site and it's good that he gets credit for that.

I didn’t actually join WCing my son did it I was home after being made redundant after working full time for over 40 yrs feeling sorry for myself not using our campervan to its full potential and even considering selling it it was a miserable time in my life I always think that the friends I have made along the way attending meets saved me from my own wallowing in self pity it’s the only forum I am on though I am a member of motorhomer by default and as most of the meets were moved across to that one i have to go on there to keep up with the meets but I am a Wild camper at heart and I thank Phil and all his helpers for all their work over the years.
