I guess we don't have a lot of choice with motorhomes though but so far I have been lucky with the two I have had engine wise and the type of driving is generally suited to diesels. There is usually a good long run involved. You do read a fair few horror stories though and just hope it won't happen to you.

When i worked for toyota it was common for hi ace vans and 1500cc coronas to do over 300k miles trouble free, only other car to do that was one of my sodas which did 314k with long fast driving.
