Just back from nearest Fiat dealership. Had to get software update under warranty,
Van due first service in November, so I thought I would get a quote from them.

I normally get it done by Glasgow Motorhomes for about £280.

Well when I got the quote I was utterly gobsmacked, £924 unbelievable.

She started rattling of the cost of oils and filters etc.
I stopped her half way through and said forget it.
She then said they’re expensive to service.

I replied well they are here. :)

Filters oils etc including extras should be no more than £50 extreem tops, then same again for doing the job, mainland must be full of rip of merchants.

That seems too low to me. Oil filter, air filter, diesel filter and oil for mine is more than that but may be cheaper for Fiats than Mercs and I think they take less oil in the engine. It will depend on what they do on the service as it could also need cabin filter, brake pads/shoes etc.

Garages are always a shock for someone who does it themselves though lol I am looking at £500 for a full service on my trike, includes back axle and clean/balance carbs to get rid of fast running when warm though and any other parts.

£360 doesn't sound bad, that's roughly what I paid last July for full service and MOT, not at a main dealer though. I wouldn't trust them to squirt WD40 on a wheelbarrow axle.
When I bought my van, they chucked in a 5 year service plan for free. Glad I didn't pay for it, never done half the jobs the plan covers, missing out brake fluid change and auto box oil change for starters.
Didn't bother me as I done them all with a mate. I know the transmission wasn't done because you have to remove a protection plate, and that had never been removed. I also did differential oil and transfer case. I'm hoping someone will be enjoying my van in 500,000 miles. Won't be me though. :ROFLMAO:

At current mileage it would take us around 100 years to wrack up that mileage Mark.
Possibly by then Partick Thistle will have won the champions league, and Glasgow will have sorted out its low emissions zone :ROFLMAO:

Do you all service your vans annually? I think our old van was probably done once every two years.
Fiat say every two years for oil change if you do 10-20000 p/a, or every year if you do less than 10000. I got to 9500 and DPF sensors started complaining. AA guy said give it good blast down the motorway to burn off the crap. That worked for a while but in this cold weather it stated complaining again. Garage that runs a fleet of Fiats said an oil change would improve things…and so it did. Go figure!

I think we did less than 2000 miles last year on a five month trip. Will get it serviced annually then I think. Should do a fair few more this year. 2015 Ducato 2.3

As long as you use genuine manufacturer parts and have a record of them your warranty cannot be affected.my daughter has purchased a load of new pug and Citroens 30k or two years they're six months old 20 k some and first one in tomorrow at my local garage for service using main dealer parts and service and parts used are logged

Which dealership?

Last time I used fiat approved was A.M.Phillip at Broxburn .
Not particularly cheap but don't remember them being as bad as your quote .
Did find them helpful and efficient to deal with

First the 5 year s plan was in the price you paid<nout is free> im well informed not to change auto box flued but just top up, diffs can go a long time with only a top up. same with manuel g boxes, me i add a teflon flued to mine.
I change my oil & filkter every 5000 miles as it sits idle half the year with only short hops which is bad for oil detergents, as for fuel filters you can run many years witout problems.
My oil filter cost £15 & 25 ltr drum of 15/40 cost me £40 notes, g box and diff oil is £25 for 5 ltrs.
My van also requires the axle hubs topped of with 80/90 g box oil, but a small squirt sorts that.
I have a led pen for testing water in brake flued & if on the limit it gets changed along with antifreeze top up if required, other bits like f belts etc gat a look at & i carry a spare just in case.

Service plan is an additional cost, he didn't have to chuck it in, obviously the dealer ain't a charity and knows what margins they work to so of course the cost was covered, but it is technically an extra.
I'll stick with changing fluid and filter, regardless of what someone says on YouTube. :p
Granted, diff oil change was well before it was needed, and unnecessary, I won't lose any sleep over it. :)
