Ferry Prices

Last year I suggested as a club that with the amount of members we have, we should contact one of the Ferry Companies to see if we could get discounts. Obviously, I am going along the lines that the vast majority of Motor Homers travel during the off peak times. I was shot down in flames by certain members at the time. However, I have contacted a ferry company who have replied saying would the club like to get in touch with their head of Trade Sales to discuss any discounts for members.
A few years ago there was a cheap tariff, called "slip away"where you could turn up and if there was space on the Ferry you could board at a very cheap price. Of course this did mean that if the Ferry was full you would have to wait. On most of the Ferries I have been on (a lot) there is always ample space left over.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions to put forward I would be grateful and also are you happy for me to proceed with this on behalf of the club.

Great idea definitely worth a try.

Hi Pamjon
As one of the people who replied, I am really glad that you have got in touch with this ferry company.
I am behind you 100%, it's great that you have done this for the members of the club.
We are very interested in the concept, you have described.
So from both of us please continue with your contact, and please keep us informed.
Thanks
John and Jan

So are we, great job, cheers Lou & Terri

Thank you for doing this, dunno why you had detractors though, some right miserable gits in the world.

Good on you for putting the feelers out but would think final say has to be with admin its their club.

This is correct, but if Admin looks and see's there is a large amount off members interested in this, it could help him decide to look into it further :) and as the OP has done the legwork, it could be an easy job for Admin to take it further (I don't know if it is easy or not) anyway thanks to the op and I hope we can get a result from this..............

Going through a club can certainly pay off, as I found out yesterday...

Aferry - cheapest was P&0 at £103 odds

P&0 direct - same dates and times £108 odds

C&CC - same dates and times £96 odds.

OK by me !

About time too ! More power to your elbow .

Can you see if they will give an extra discount for impoverished Yorkshire Mh'ers ? :raofl:

Always worth a try. If you don't ask, you don't get.

Good luck with it. :)

Great idea! Having just paid out nearly £200 Dover-Calais crossing with only a 6ft motorbike trailer behind me! :mad1:
