Eu roaming sim for data

I got this deal in December Black Friday deal for £17.50, we have just been in Europe for a month, and it has worked superb, we have watched tv through a fire stick, we also had two I pads and a laptop connected to it too
I`ve just gone back to Tesco Mobile ( O2 ) after being with O2 direct when Tesco said they were ending free roaming ( which never happened ) a few years back.

O2 said they were continuing free roaming so i went over to them and got a great deal on the 50GB plan ( 25GB free roaming ) using Uswitch.

The O2 24 month contract ended and they whacked the price right up and seeing as we have no foreseeable plans to go back to Europe i`ve gone back to Tesco.

I`ve always found the Tesco roaming service to be brilliant and far better than Three`s ever was, we watched the whole of the Queen`s funeral ( 5 hours ) with the German couple ( that`s another story ) from the next van to us whilst sat on an aire in France through the FireStick which used 9.75GB no problem and well below the 25GB free roaming limit.

Is someone from Google tracking where I ride about on the bike then Trev? I bet they are having a great time! :ROFLMAO:
They are selling on you serches buying habits banking and conversatiions/contacts, these phones can be degoogled making them safe and private.

Hard to keep up with the deals offered, so an interesting discussion on how others operate when travelling.

Tesco can be a torment if changing sim, or changing a phone with retention of original number - so Alcam, agree the service is erratic at times.

Our Tesco account is a basic 2Gb, normally when in UK as not heavy data users.

Travelling around Europe the past month we bought a top up bundle of 50Gb, for £40.
Used only half of it.
This option is only for the period of the monthly accounting- which is a PITA, if you are mid way through the billing month.

But it worked fine, except in 1 weak signal location.

Met a Canadian (Jim) at Dover as we returned on Saturday who needed help with his fridge in the hire vehicle he took on.
He had bought a 100Gb UK Sim for £15 with Three (3) with unlimited calls and texts.

Thought that was a good deal till I read this post, but he was happy.
Even showed him how to tether his phone to his laptop - then discovered he'd forgotten his power supply so laptop would soon become redundant.

Keep feeding us members the knowledge - always useful.

For the same money, you could have bought a MiFi unit such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08CZYM51X?th=1 (assuming that you only have one SIM slot in your phone and want to keep your UK SIM in that) plus a Réglo Mobile 50GB SIM (€5 for the card, €4.80 for the monthly charge) https://www.reglomobile.fr/forfaits-mobiles/forfait4G0480?offerName=forfait4G0480. The month starts on purchase, so no issues with being partway through a billing month at the start. Some of the data allowance can be used for EU roaming. Thereafter, it's just the cost of a new SIM at the start of a trip, plus the monthly charge, so a lot cheaper than your top-up bundle.. You can add on further months if required by adding credit to the SIM online using a bank card before the existing credit has expired.

Thanks - have a MiFi unit, didn't think of it, as original plan was to visit Greece, then the restrictions enforced by them kept us initially in Italy.
Getting back into the travelling Europe mode, so quickly learning all the useful ways to use technology.

The youngest daughter used one in Thailand last year, she said it worked really well, we will be giving them a try at the end of the year when we go to Vietnam

If you try to buy the TunePort example nothing happens apart from a new Google page, too good to be true at that price.

My fault I didn't put a link ,just a screenshot.
Be interesting to know if they work..
We could have got one in Thailand but found so much WiFi we didn't bother.
