EU Pet Passports no longer valid for UK residents

As I just posted on motorhomer site it would appear DFDS no longer insist on AHC [see below]

That's still what it says on the DEFRA website, however it follows it by saying you should check that the country you are visiting will accept a PP; and if not, you need to get an AHC.

We have copies of the letters from the French and Spanish authorities saying they will accept them though.

All I'm concerned about Jo is that DFDS now seem to be accepting EU pet passports issued to UK residents

I think that the loophole is for pet passports issued before 22nd April 2026, it sounds like there is legal issue for refusing to accept any EU passport issued before this date

As I posted earlier a member of Fun had contacted agriculture depts in France & Spain (and others) for guidance on how the new regulations would be implemented. Since there is clearly a practical problem in establishing residency for PP’s issued before the April change France & Spain have taken a pragmatic approach. Also the checks are actually done at the UK end by the carriers who are not really in a position to determine residency.

I'd be interested in finding out what has caused ferry companies to [apparently] change their tune

I've just seen on FaceAche (so it must be true) that DFDS refused a PP on the Newcastle to Amsterdam route.

I did wonder if the Netherlands are being more difficult than France?
