The Diesel garage rang me just now about MY EGR valve. He's got it off, and it is NOT caked up at all really, (I'll post a pic of it later on, not the problem it seems, I almost always every day drop to third and cane it for a few miles if on a decent road, so that seems to work fine, he thinks it is the solonoid that is at fault which is part of the unit older vans have a vacuum operated valve, so that hopefully with fix it's cold running problem, it works 100% once it reaches normal temperature.

I did consider that, but he advised against it, he did explain but it was a whoosh moment and Liz was waiting for me.

Got the van back home, it's like a new van, sets of well goes up hills better, and just feels better, £400 all in.

I think for a typical motorhome/camper doing a low mileage, the EGR is just a PITA. Blanking them off is simple and probably needs no remapping after doing so.

It did put up mass air flow on the code reader, his not mine, mine didn't see any faults at all, that cleared itself after fitting the EGR, he said the Egr interferes with the MAF.

I just use the Torque app and a OBD2 BT plug-in, I could do with a better plug in, maybe, had this one about 10 years, or maybe a better BT app, any suggestions?

my 2013 ducato. had a problem with light coming on the way i drive it doesn’t need caning lol thrashing it is my default , garage said it’s about a grand for the new valve or a sensor was £80 not had s problem since , in fact after graham did my timing belt in june this 12 year old van with 98,000 on the clock has never driven as well in the 10 years i’ve owned it ,

My egr valve on our Renault Master, let us down SO many times, I took the plunge and blanked it off. It ran well for a couple of trips, before the dashboard light came on. So I contacted a company in Norwich, to see if they could help.
They told me to pop over, that same day, and remapped the vehicle, so that it doesn’t even know that it’s ever had an egr valve. Pulling like a bl**dy train now.
