Drink Driving and Scotland

Do you send them away for recalibration ?
Helen uses one at work for doing random tests on employees and has to send it away for recalibration every 12 months
She has only ever found one person to be over the limit and he was over 3 times the limit at 8.00am and he came to work on a motorbike.
But he swore that the last drink he’d had was 10pm the night before but he blew the same on two different machines.
And he had turned up to drive an ambulance.
But despite blowing 3 times over and Helen telling him to leave his bike at work and she would get someone to drive him home, he ignored her and jumped on his bike to go home.

Mine's an Alcosense Richard and yes I send it away for recalibration. However, it's getting on a bit now so I will be replacing it with a newer version in the near future.

I remember one meet at Buxworth. It took until 3 in the afternoon to get down to a zero reading after a heavy night in the Navigation.

I don't know if its still the case but on a boys trip to the island of Uist in the noughties we ran out of booze on a Sunday. We found out there was literally one shop on the island that sold booze for just one hour on a Sunday lunchtime. We got there when it opened and it was like a stampede! :ROFLMAO:
Wasn’t that long ago when you couldn’t get a carry out on a Sunday in Scotland.

I carry an electronic breathalyser and won't drive the next day until it doesn't register any alcohol on my breath, sometimes that may not be until mid afternoon, they are very accurate these days when tested against the Police's devices and are a very worthwhile investment.

Which remind me, mine needs replacing now.

Same here.
I also carry an alcosense, I was told by a Gendarme that in the early hours of the morning a motorhome is a prime target in some areas, I do not move until it is zero either but if I intend travelling early (very unlikely) I prefer not to drink the night before

Which one do you use Rob ?

It's an Alcosense Elite Jeff.

Had it years and it's served me well. When they tested them a few years back they read pretty much the same as the Police ones.

I see they have a new version of it out so that is what I will replace it with;

I'm assuming the entry level, lite 2, and the ultra will perform the necessary task with reasonable accuracy, and would be tested to do so, otherwise not of much use. Purely out of interest, why choose one over another?
Mine is in need of recalibration so I think I have a couple of choices....
Upgrade or park near either of you, I'll bring the tubes/mouthpieces:ROFLMAO:

Straws from MaccyD's are cheaper Tim, in fact they are free!

Daughter just got a text saying to give the amazon guy a code when he drops the breathalizer off strange one ?
