Dometic fridge removal.

I haven't Kev, probably no longer available, but there are lots on curries, amazon etc
AO I found a great source and selection of fridges. In fact, it was one of the few places where I could get close to the physical size I wanted.

I think Liz would go Ape shoite if it didn't have a freezer or ice box, one of our away only treats is an ice lolly, etc.

do you have the modle numbers?
Despite my 240V fridge/freezer being physically smaller than the one I removed (albeit by only an inch or so sideways and height), I got a significantly larger freezer space :)

I'd not mess with the gas pipe further than fitting a stop end to it and making sure it is well secured now the fridge isn't holding it place, a rubberised P clip will do the job nicely just in can it can vibrate a little on the move.

Does it have a data plate inside Chris?
Can't see one but the freezer is 2star. It's a Comfee.
It just reminded me looking in it, that I also replaced the glass shelves with plastic. Here's a pic of the bracket I made.

That is pretty much all I did - as well as turning off the supply of course. I would presume - or at least hope - that in any motorhome, every gas appliance/outlet's supply can be turned off individually at a central location? I have two manifolds in my van - one side has the Fire, Fridge and BBQ shut-off valves, and the other has the Water Boiler and Cooker shut-off valves.

The other thing I changed is moving the 240V outlet from a cupboard under the fridge up to behind the fridge on a new socket so I could just plug it in without having to mess around with the new fridge's plug.

This is the one I fitted.... I could've had black/white/silver....
With freezer or without...
I went without to give us more useable space and we usually have our Waeco 12v compressor cool box with us that we use in freezer mode on longer trips.

Fitted pretty much perfectly.... Couple or so brackets and a catch for the door..

Turned the gas tap off on the manifold and disconnected the gas pipe at the manifold and fitted a blanking cap at the manifold but left the pipe in place incase I ever have a use for it (highly unlikely)
And used the the 240v socket from the cookers single electric hob (that we've never used)

The risk of a leak from where you have added a stopper by the manifold is just as likely - and probably greater as it will be more awkward to access. By removing the pipe you are - IMO - INCREASING the risk, not reducing it.

Also, you wouldn't (at least, I wouldn't) reshape pre-used pipe - I would ADD a fitting to the existing pipe to run to a BBQ point close by.

We must agree to differ.

I would screw a threaded stopper on the outlet of the manifold, not to the pipe by the manifold.

In all the vans I have owned caping the manifold is easy access compared to caping the supply pipe where it enters the fridge.
I appreciate that you have worked on far more than I have,, but IMHO putting a blanking cap on a threaded output is far safer than putting a blanking cap on a pipe were it had connected to the fridge.

As for adding a fitting to extend the existing pipe to a BBQ point, that doesn't seem the best solution.

As I said previously individual choice.

Exactly what I did....

Tap is turned off and capped on manifold with a smear of gas paste...
