The earlier models put the fridge directly behind the passenger seat as the SLD was set further back.
My idea for a van layout, i may be daft but sure not stupid.View attachment 206694
To some extent I agree with TrevSeats looking out the SLD are nice.
Here's views from our dinette, how much more would we see without the kitchen unit

Nonsense Rob, my motorhomes 2.35m wideI don't understand why that is stupid Trev, most PVC's are built like that (including my own) and you are still left with a doorway wider than most motorhomes.
So why is it 'stuped'?

Personally Trev I agree with you I really don’t like that layout, but I think calling it stupid is a bit disingenuous to be fair.Dont like that stuped layout with kitchem half over the door.
What would you want chairs forWhat exactly makes your layout any better than anybody else's? Everybody has different needs!
That would be completely wrong for many people, where would all of your outdoor stuff go such as chairs etc? Not to mention water tanks, heaters etc.
You would have been able to see all of that table in picture 3, surely that is worth having a huge wide sliding door and losing a few feet of kitchen worktopTo some extent I agree with TrevSeats looking out the SLD are nice.

I said the idea seems stupid to me, never said other are stupid, well maybe the odd one.Well at least you don't feel the need to be rude and call others who don't agree with you stupid, as Trev seems to whatever the subject is!
Also if that pesky kettle didn't keep making an appearance I would have been able to see more of the concrete post in pic 4, damn thing has been getting in hundreds of my photo's for the last 50 years. You would have been able to see all of that table in picture 3, surely that is worth having a huge wide sliding door and losing a few feet of kitchen worktop

Ease up rob, if we get our gogs going round then many a idea for vans goes through our heads, and each to there own, if thats what most self builder want its ok with me, i just think its stuped when you can have a clear veiw out with no obstructions. You said it was a stupid layout - as used by many if not most of the self builders on this forum.
I don't need to get the cogs going round upstairs thanks Trev, talk like a twat and I will answer you like you are a twat.
Yep my seats turn round at front and so does the second set to face the table, but then my van is a monster and not like a small unit. How many people sit inside looking out of a sliding door?, when I built my Iveco Daily I put turntables on both seats, we sat with them turned around and a removable table in front, my favourite seat was in the doorway if I wanted to see outside.
The rear doors were welded shut, Pullman deanette seating with a table that dropped down to make a double bed.
It was ideal for us.
Tell Liz she's losing worktop, then run Terry, that's why my self build had as big as possible, and still be able to use the SLD.You would have been able to see all of that table in picture 3, surely that is worth having a huge wide sliding door and losing a few feet of kitchen worktop
