I have been offered intrest free cridit for my eye operation in a few weeks time, cost £5100, i have £1600 under the floor boards which im putting up front to reduce the payments, so £50 a week for 18 mths, i may put more down if i sell some more marine engines.
I took the interest free option to pay over 10 months when I had my cataract done a couple of years ago. Made sense as it was interest free.
We recently bought 2 electric bikes from Halfords and again, they offered interest free over 12 months so we took them up on it. I'd much rather my savings being in my account getting interest if they want to give me interest free payments.

Truth is its not interest free, the produck you are buying has money added to price which is then handed to the loan Co, there is no such thing as a free ride in life.

Not when paying cash in every case, they keep the extra or if they did not the game would be given away, that how my eye sergury group and many others work, this of course does not apply to c cards, i pay my cap one in full at end of mth.

A few years ago I was buying a new leather suite.
Three years free interest £2,200.
I haggled a cash price of £1700.
I am not saying it’s always the case, but then interest rates were about 7%, it stands to reason three years free interest has to be paid for by someone, it isn’t free.
No because the extra they grab of each person a amount of it goes to the loan co so they in turn pretend its interest free which in truth it is not.
Look at it like this, would you lend money with no return if this was you biz, of course not, they have to make money to survive.

Correct and they eye co works the same but wont give a discount, everyone pays a small amount so on paper it looks interest free which it is not
Time folk wakened up to the real world, nothing is free.
Just take a look at the wich hunt now in the motor and loans hidden within and now being persued.

That's my point Trev, they make the money by making it easier for you to buy - thus giving them an advantage over other companies selling the same product.
They can give an interest free loan because they buy the goods at Trade price. Their selling price is a lot more than they buy for and can ffer 'interest free' to catch the eye of the Public.

Spanish car sales often have two prices, dealerships to advertise a lower price for vehicles purchased with financing from their partner institution, while charging a higher "cash" price for outright purchases. This practice serves as an incentive for buyers to take out a loan with the dealership, which allows the business to earn a profit from the interest and associated fees.
Apart from my first ford cortina I have bought all my works Vans, cars, motorhomes motorbikes and ebike cash. And if not new then a private sales. So sadly no refund for me , but I think I'm quids in.
Around 85% of new vehicles are bought on some type of finance.

If I had walked in with a fist full of tenners it would have been the same price. If I had aid by cheque, Debit card or CC, it would have been the same price. I am simply paying the same price but split up into smaller chunks.
You may have an argument if you think that all prices are loaded to bear in mind interest free offers however I am dubious about that as they are limited time offers in some cases plus not all are eligible. Halfords have to be competitive so to front load their prices on the off chance that someone might take out interest free credit would not be a sensible business practice.

They are not 'loaded' as such. Big companies get better trade deals because of volume. They can sell at a similar price to other companies but make a bigger profit per item.
One other thing about Halfords. On a couple of occasions I have had to get in touch with their Customer Service and I have found their help has been superb.
