I have been offered intrest free cridit for my eye operation in a few weeks time, cost £5100, i have £1600 under the floor boards which im putting up front to reduce the payments, so £50 a week for 18 mths, i may put more down if i sell some more marine engines.![]()
Why are you not having this done by the NHS, Trev?I have been offered intrest free cridit for my eye operation in a few weeks time, cost £5100, i have £1600 under the floor boards which im putting up front to reduce the payments, so £50 a week for 18 mths, i may put more down if i sell some more marine engines.![]()
Truth is its not interest free, the produck you are buying has money added to price which is then handed to the loan Co, there is no such thing as a free ride in life.I took the interest free option to pay over 10 months when I had my cataract done a couple of years ago. Made sense as it was interest free.
We recently bought 2 electric bikes from Halfords and again, they offered interest free over 12 months so we took them up on it. I'd much rather my savings being in my account getting interest if they want to give me interest free payments.
Truth is that it is interest free if the total amount you pay is the same regardless of whether you take credit or not.Truth is its not interest free, the produck you are buying has money added to price which is then handed to the loan Co, there is no such thing as a free ride in life.![]()

Not when paying cash in every case, they keep the extra or if they did not the game would be given away, that how my eye sergury group and many others work, this of course does not apply to c cards, i pay my cap one in full at end of mth.Truth is that it is interest free if the total amount you pay is the same regardless of whether you take credit or not.
If you could get a discount for cash then it isn't interest free.
All my credit card spending is interest free because I pay in full each month.
Tried that Rob, no chance, im told by a person in the medical biz this as i discribed is how it works, they have it stitched well up.It is interest free Trev, it's just an incentive to attract your custom.
The only way you could lose out is possibly through the inability to haggle the price down.

No because the extra they grab of each person a amount of it goes to the loan co so they in turn pretend its interest free which in truth it is not.So did they give you one price for the op if you paid cash and another if you took the 0% offer then Trev??
That would seem rather obvious to me.
Correct and they eye co works the same but wont give a discount, everyone pays a small amount so on paper it looks interest free which it is notA few years ago I was buying a new leather suite.
Three years free interest £2,200.
I haggled a cash price of £1700.
I am not saying it’s always the case, but then interest rates were about 7%, it stands to reason three years free interest has to be paid for by someone, it isn’t free.

Look at it like this, would you lend money with no return if this was you biz, of course not, they have to make money to survive.
Spanish car sales often have two prices, dealerships to advertise a lower price for vehicles purchased with financing from their partner institution, while charging a higher "cash" price for outright purchases. This practice serves as an incentive for buyers to take out a loan with the dealership, which allows the business to earn a profit from the interest and associated fees.Truth is its not interest free, the produck you are buying has money added to price which is then handed to the loan Co, there is no such thing as a free ride in life.![]()

They are not 'loaded' as such. Big companies get better trade deals because of volume. They can sell at a similar price to other companies but make a bigger profit per item.If I had walked in with a fist full of tenners it would have been the same price. If I had aid by cheque, Debit card or CC, it would have been the same price. I am simply paying the same price but split up into smaller chunks.
You may have an argument if you think that all prices are loaded to bear in mind interest free offers however I am dubious about that as they are limited time offers in some cases plus not all are eligible. Halfords have to be competitive so to front load their prices on the off chance that someone might take out interest free credit would not be a sensible business practice.
Halfords must be cutting retail staffing to the bone ... I have twice recently walked out because either I literally couldn't find a member of staff to take my money or on the second occasion the single visible member of staff was wrestling with making a refund on the payment computer and had a queue of about six people waiting to pay. After 15 mins of no movement I placed my "purchase" on the nearest shelf and left. They are not 'loaded' as such. Big companies get better trade deals because of volume. One other thing about Halfords. On a couple of occasions I have had to get in touch with their Customer Service and I have found their help has been superb.
