Ever since our Norway trip, we have had a problem with the gearbox. Every time first gear was selected there was a tremendous crunch.
Spent weeks trying to find a company to have a look for me but every time I mentioned Quickshift 6 gearbox, they all lost interest. That was until I spoke to Ross at a company called Reengineered Transmissions. They primarily supply reconditioned gearboxes. In other words, they remove your dodgy gearbox and replace it with a reconditioned one, normally in one day.
Everything sounded ideal until Ross explained that he didn’t have a reconditioned Quickshift 6 on the shelf.
Then he offered to rebuild my gearbox for me, if I was prepared to leave it with them for four to five days.
I drove it down yesterday Tuesday, in time for them to start work at 9am. This morning, Wed,
I received a Phonecall at 11am to say it was all done and ready to be collected.
The company are based at Rayleigh in Essex and can be thoroughly trusted to do a good job, whatever your gearbox type or problem.

My son had a manual box done on his Mazda 3 with a crowd in Glasgow last year, sure that was £700, picked up stripped, report given, rebuild with new gear and returned within a week. not sure what length of warranty was given but did come with one.

Worked in Bairds cars for 2 years and in the race department selling parts, they were the agent for humber hillman simca and roots trucks/vans.
I loved the big humber super snip and also the fast back with the 1725 donkey which as you say had a over drive, imps were my thing, esp the comp 998 engine. :)
