Thats a shame . Have used that route [and Dover] many times and never had a problem .We're sitting here40 mins past check in time, nowhere near doing so. Traffic at a standstill. An absolute shambles. Our first time doing the ferry, and the last. Tunnel next time
What 20% discount ?We have also used it quite a few times. We have never had a problem, I think you have been very unlucky.
With your 20% discount we have been across for as little as £70. We always come back Calais/Dover with Irish Ferries. The ships are excellent. We didnt relise till last time they give points each time you use them and you can redeem them against a future crossing. Last time we got £20 off.
We used to use the tunnel when you could buy the ten tickets at a time and share them with a nominated person. (frequent traveller) At the time it worked out at about £70 a crossing but now it is way out of our reach.
pj
Over 60s discount, but it only needs too be one person in your party,,What 20% discount ?
Left on time ? Not too much of a shambles then .We eventually got on board, and it has left on time. The ferry itself is well equipped, staff all very helpful and friendly.
Having read reviews about the food, it looked about as uninteresting as described, so we had made other arrangements. The French obviously think that all the brits eat is fish and chips and Cornish pasties, when they're not coating all their food in gravy!
They really do need to sort out their logistics at Newhaven though, I felt sorry for the poor woman from security who was trying to sort out the mess
