we dont need a fart detector that is for sure :) with my two dogs i mean :) cos i dont do that, been female :)

Carbon Monoxide is generally lighter than air but not always so

It is also known as Blackdamp to miners and is prevalent after an underground explosion. Two of my relatives were killed by it in the explosion at Easington Colliery in 1951. A Mines Rescue worker died because his mask was snagged and pulled off. One breath was enough to render him unconcsious and another couple of breaths killed him.

Ironically, somebody who dies of CO poisoning has healthy looking pink skin.

Are you saying that my information is wrong Biggirafe?

I have just checked your link and it bears out what I said.

Could you clarify what you mean?

Normally Carbon Monoxide is very slightly lighter than air.

During a fire, the heat can make the air lighter as it is warmed up (less dense) and the CO can be found more at lower levels under those circumstances. Obviously, if there is a fire, your smoke alarm will have operated.

BTW my knowledge was not instantly obtained from an American web page. I worked in the Mining Industry where safety was paramount and we were taught about various gases and what happens after an explosion underground.

The way I read Wikipedia, it says the same.

Thank you n8rbos. This is in line with my first posting which Biggirafe seems to think is incorrect.

If he is man enough, he will tell us all on this very public forum why he differs in his opinion. I suppose an apology would be out of the question from this keyboard warrior.

I think you got me wrong, I did not say anyone was wrong I just posted up a link to Wikopedia,

I love this place (as in wikopedia), answers most questions like this, but like any page on the web they can be wrong (as in wikopedia can be wrong)

Has someone lost the xmas spirit :)

You did not say I was right either Biggirafe.

I always keep in mind that this is a public forum with a possibility of 9,000 pairs of eyes (plus guests) reading what I post. That is why I take the time to be clear in what I am saying. People do take offence against a poorly written comment and can take it to say something else.

I was right about not getting an apology.

I was supposed to post that you were right? ???? All I did was post a useful link to Wikopedia

I am supposed to appologise when I did not in fact say you were wrong, you just missunderstood my post,

I'm sorry if my posts and the use of the english language don't meet your exacting standard my friend, I will try better in future to rise to your high standards ;)

Biggirafe,

I expected that sort of reply from you. Maybe you need to brush up on your English language skills and your manners.

Because of your attitude, I have been put off from replying to anyone`s queries as I can do without any comeback to my attempts to be of help. From now on, I will not join in on the threads where information is sought.

It makes being a member on here a bit pointless, so I will just see how it goes for now.

Well that certainly would be a shame maingate, It is the diversity of experience and knowledge that makes this forum so useful and I’m sure yours would be missed if you stooped posting 

I'm sorry that you have taken umbrage at my posts, I can not think of any posts where I have been anything less than respectful and polite, but there you go, as you say postings on these forums can be mis-interpreted quite easily, particularly if the posting is unclear or the posters style clashes with that of the person reading it.
Have a merry Christmas.
