Crap on Scottish Roads! (it's not us)

Some time ago i was on Holy Island in Northumberland. I was near the Abbey photographing. A woman with her daughter appraoched near the gate leading to the abbey. They walked over to the rocks right near the Wooden Groynes. Older woman squatted down. After a while she got up and hitched up the dress and walked off. I thought she must have been caught short for a wee. We,ve all been there. But as I laft I walked past the spot and lo and behold it was a human turd. Not only that but no toilet paper. Minging! Theres public toilets a few hundred yards down the road.

Edina and me watched a family trotting off a beach over the road into the long grass with toilet roll in hand and they weren’t going to blow their nose. 😡

I was at Loch Morlich a few years ago and there was a newish large motorhome parked in our favourite place. We parked nearby and as soon as they left we nipped into the space and had to leave as they had left a big jobby and toilet paper right at the back of where the motorhome was.

The old lady may have a medical problem and was upset about what she was doing taking a photo would be disgraceful to somebody clearly in distress.as for the toilet roll men shake and ladies wipe

Who needs to drive around with 100 litres of toilet waste sloshing about so your van holds more sh!t than diesel. 🤢🤢🤢
To answer your question, pretty much everyone with a fixed black waste tank (as opposed to a cassette) who doesn't want the problem of "pyramid mounding" (which can happen if you empty the tank too often or park up at a fully-serviced pitch and leave the black tank discharge valve open).

Maybe, but if I was a gambling man!

I’d have to say if I really, really had to go, I wouldn’t find a completely exposed, elevated spot to go. At the very least I would attempt to hide behind the car, or one of the many bushes and rocks in the Highlands.

I still think that on balance it is more likely to be down to campers, cyclists and hikers yet they don’t get any of the abuse that we do.
That's because tent campers, hikers and cyclists are perceived to be poor people, suffering.
Motorhomers, swanning around in Gin Palaces, bragging about freedom, living the dream and cheap/ free camping........
..
Are perceived to be freeloading smug B@$ tards.
Guilty as charged M' Lud.

I was telling my wife about the BBC Scotland thread and that I had written to the BBC to complain (very out of character for me) and she reminded me of an incident on our last trip.

As we were driving down the A835 heading for Knockan Crag, in the distance there was a chap with what appeared to be a huge white dog, I thought it must be a Pyrenean Mountain dog or similar. As we got closer we saw it wasn't a dog it was an old lady squatted down having a crap, and he was stood there holding out a toilet roll. We were just stunned, not just that she was going to the toilet at the side of the road, it was fair it was way from the road but that was just the point it was an elevated position for all to see coming from either direction!

We had passed before it fully registered and I was cursing myself for not thinking to stop and take a photo.

Our son and his family were travelling behind us and they saw it too.

It became a standing joke for us through the rest of the holiday if anyone needed the toilet we would joke that they would have to hang on until we found a suitably public place to do it!

Sorry, just thought I'd share.

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention they were in a small car, or at least that is what was at the side of the road.
There are public toilets at Knockan Crag or were when I installed the visitor centre a few years ago.

I really wanted to post this on any or all of the NC500 Facebook groups but they’re all membership only so I don’t fancy my chances.
Don't waste your time. I joined the The Land Weeps, to argue our case, but they don't want to hear it. They are very anti tourist, not just motorhomers. They are even against aires. They just want every tourist on a campsite or in a hotel. I left the group to save my sanity.

None so blind as those that will not see.
So they are anti tourist, I take it none of them have ever been tourists themselves . Their hypocrisy has no bounds, but thankfully they are not representative of the vast majority, just another extreme group online.
Quite happy to travel to other destinations were they are made welcome BUT N I M B Y
