That will give you time to get around...

Not long now until you get your van:)

didnt bid afterall,it went up to £22.50 plus a tenner for postage and wasnt sure if they,d let me fetch it..have answered an ad in gumtree though, waiting to hear from that..

Our vicar had one of those...

He was always saying 'Lettuce Spray':lol-049:

best thing to do is park beside a river fast flowing and get a wash board and take it from there.

also good to have a few lines of hooks coming from the washboard just incase of passing fish.

i have had a portable twin tub i bought it years ago ready for when we retire and dec8de to tour europe ive used it once to try it out its now gathering dust waiting for us to retire lol but i know it will get used well

I have given great thought to washing smalls over the years! In portugal, we are off grid (a barn not a MH) and initially I washed stuff in the stream...till I discovered tadpoles in my clothes! Time of the year..and the water was so cold my hands would go blue! Then I used the neighbours concrete "tub" complete with concrete scrub board...was a bit enthusiastic and wore holes in Daves boxers!. Then found a plastic twintub on ebay (harrison make) which is fantastic. Need to use the genny tho..not enough solar to run it. Smaller than the old fashioned ones but takes a good load and fairly fast spin, and very lightweight. Would only fit in a large self build van tho...it is probably 1m X 500cm. Uses approx 350w for washer and 150w for spinner (or t'other way around..cant remember).
Anyway good luck with your smalls, Pink and commiserations to Jonas's wife :D

Hi we take with us a small Spin drier got it from Currys, I know at least 4 others with same one ,also i got a Posser so washing no prob the spinner is good especially for jeans and bedding.
Spinner and Genny fit nicely in our little outside locker.......Even spun the old Portugese lady`s washing at Padern she was delighted lol..

theres a lot of diehards amongst the portugese women who swear that the concrete washing machine [ one woman-power washboard ] is the only way to get clothes properly clean.so they still make them, but also in plastic for the modern woman ! they still have those bucket showers in the drogarias, they are great,a bucket with a showerhead in the base and 2 chains to operate the tap, fill with warm water and hang from a branch,we had a galvanised one but my wife was always looking longingly at the white enamelled ones with brass taps !

Washing Machine

I find it just easier to take our main washing machine with when we go away, strap it to the top of the van and off we go. Yes we have to use a camp site with a tap close by and 16a socket but as it is cold fill only there is no issue - and Lidl bio washing liquid serves both the machine and the loo - easy when you know how!
