Clean air category and registration

We too, were caught out in Bradford, a couple of weeks ago. I remembered reading about the Bradford LEZ, but had forgotten about it, because we rarely travel that way. Anyway, we had to pay the charge. I hadn't heard that motorcaravans should be exempt ! Can anyone tell me where this exemption has been documented ? I would be very interested.

I live in Bradford and had to apply for my exemption on my Motorhome but the area covered is not that big and quite easy to get round it I believe it covers 25sq miles

I think a lot are getting caught out in Shipley Annie, Canal road is part of it, as for the map it leaves a lot to be desired as it looks to encompass surrounding streets.

Looks like it goes all the way out to the Yorkshire Clinic, but signs on the bypass say it's 3 miles away so no wonder people are getting caught out

Thanks, for that. I would have been surprised, if anything less than Euro 6, would have been exempt.
Just seen a recent poll, where people were asked if they would support a LEZ, if it was introduced in their local area. Well over 90% said NO.
Why do we let them get away with such things, when the overwhelming majority don't want, or support it?

Its hard to avoid the zone as the edge is the ring road (which is included) as well as Shipley. Its a big detour on small roads 😬
That's the issue I had FWIW. I was trying to get from Harrogate to join the M62 westbound without going through Leeds. The alternative route adds just over ten miles to the trip, but you have to initially go in the 'wrong' direction.
ISTR promises that major trunk roads (including ring roads and other bypasses) wouldn't be included when low emission/clean air zones were first proposed. But that seems to have been a pie-crust promise since both Bradford and Bath have broken it...

Yes I suppose that side of Bradford is harder to get round my side is much easier as you can get to all motorways via Halifax or Brighouse which I did until my exemption came through.

Not on mine it doesn't nor on the phone and all three routes take me through the zone.

I noted that your destination was inside the zone and so I had a go with start and end either side of Bradford but outside the zone. Both routes enter the zone and no warning from Google Maps. I tried using Google Chrome and "maps.google.co.uk" rather than "maps.google.com" to no avail. I also tried selecting the "avoid tolls" option, but that also didn't help:

I'd be grateful for info on how to get Google Maps to warn of routes that enter a CAZ.

Google maps doesn't warn of all emission zones, at least at the moment.

A quick search will show which they do show, they are listed.
