Spending a week in Tenerife for the first time. Surprised at the amount of motorhomes here, some hired but others from all over Europe. I assume they cross over from Morocco. But they don’t seem to bother with the six mitre rule over here. 😀

Are you sure there are people in them? I remember going to what we thought was a Sosta in the Italian lakes years ago that looked a bit like that car park. There was loads of motorhomes on it and we found a spot with a bit of space but there was nobody coming or going to the motorhomes. By the morning we realised they were just parked and left there presumably by locals. :D

Blimey! Looks grim then. I don't remember seeing many sites or Aires in Tenerife mind but I presume they exist. I remember seeing a few wilding there though with huge tilting solar panels. I would pick my spot carefully there. A lot of crime last time I was there. I remember spending Christmas there a while back and we rented an apartment on a golf course. We even had security guards in the cul-de-sac where the cars were parked and it was a nice area. One night I left a pair of stinking deck shoes out on the back door step as they were rank. By the morning someone had actually nicked them. :(

Those ones parked down beside the conquistador Hotel in las Americas mostly belong to young seasonal workers they can’t afford rents so buy up cheap vans and park up there’s a large area about five miles out towards los gigantes near the cliffs that now looks like a shanty town hundreds of motorhomes caravans tents shacks kind hippy feel about the place.

Less being an anorak Bill and Camping Car spotting, you and your good lady get yourself up to Mt Teide, via cable car is a must!!

Good drive up from memory as well. Would be a good place to go biking I reckon. Interesting island if a bit over subscribed.

Aye, and from memory, hair pin bends and narrow road towards the Volcanic area, like a moonscape.

The back road over the mountains from the north on the western side I think is quite an interesting one as well.

long time back I remember driving up and I didn't really think it through and forgot to pack any warmer clothing ... getting a bit nippy as we got higher so turned around and headed back to the beach :)

That west side of the island is very much authentic canaries. Icod de Los Vinos is a cracking little town.

On the way up to Tiede a stop at Villa Flor is worthwhile.

Cheers

Yes, but many tourists arrive straight from the beaches.
Nobody tells them it might be a little cooler up there.
Bless 'em.
This time of the year , you should bring warm clothes, just in case...... And a hipflask.
