Hi, does anyone on here have one of the above motorhomes ? My neighbour is thinking of going to see and maybe get one, any good / bad points to consider.
 
Lightweight build materials and short wheelbase along with a narrow body give a very good payload.
Would i buy another chausson....yes. ours is 2013 with very little problems..
Just need 6 numbers up first.
 
Hi we have a X650 if they still want to ask or look at one.
There have been a couple of niggles but that's no different to any new van.
We are at Whittingham rally in November.
 
I had a Chausson 510 from 2016 to 2019, my first van.
Yes we had some minor issues but overall it was a good van.
I only changed because I wanted to try out an A class.
But what Chausson are producing right now looks really good.
I saw both the 550 and the 650 and I was very impressed with them both.
Another thing Chausson offer is value for money in comparison to other manufacturers.
My only complaint was how long they took to send parts, it took eight weeks for them to send out a light, something Rapido did in a week for our new van.
If I ever bought another van, and they had what I wanted I would buy another Chausson.
 
Don't know if you can still get repairs done at factory? Tournon sur Rhone (?)

I think so, we turned up unannounced at the factory gate a few years ago and they sorted out an issue with electrics and a drop down bed. Very customer friendly with a customer waiting area etc. From memory there is a campsite literally 100 m or so from the sidegate entrance to the repair workshop, so you can be first in the queue .....👍👍

Yea I had a problem with the table and the bed .
I just parked in the town . Forgotten the name of the guy I dealt with . He was very good
 
I had one, with the huge wind-surfer sized 'garage' at the back. The toilet was sufficiently small that sitting on it required the door to be open. Transit wise, rainwater from the windscreen is deliberately designed to pour on to the engine ECU wiring connector, so that won't last long. That design is easily overcome by fitting a standard washing machine drain hose from the black plastic gulley water collector down by the side of the engine on to the ground. So far: Cusotmer 1, Ford Nil points. On mine with that modification they lost the sale of another expensive ECU and associated wiring loom.
However the ultimate DEFINITE reason not to buy any new Ford is that some vindictive toe rag in the development department decided it is a good idea to run the rubber cam belt in the engine oil. Result: even if the belt lasts 40,000 miles you are looking at either £2000 fitting of a new belt or anything up to a new engine. Just look on youtube for 'Transit wet belt'. One garage fixing the problem gave the customer a £4500 bill. And they weren't ashamed to do it, that was the cost of replacing all the parts as a result of little bits of rubber getting round the oil ways in the engine and blocking them causing catastrophic wear.
If you have an old Chausson, keep it. Don't fall into the trap of 'the last one was excellent, I'll get a new one'. It was a good choice and keeping it is a good choice. The new ones will cost about the same as running a yacht - stand on the end of a pier and throw £50 notes into the sea.
