Brompton Electric

Several of us were going somewhere on a bike ride, using a relative's amazing collection of bikes.

I ended up riding a Moulton, which has small wheels. It was amazing: really smooth ride and so easy to pedal: it really rolled easily. No problems with potholes. The biggest problem was that it tended to catch up with the bike in front when we were freewheeling.

I had expected not to like it at all, but I was rapidly proved wrong. After that experience, I'd happily give a Brompton a try, but for the price and the fact that I have no need of a folding bike.

Yep it was the moulton we had in the sixties, down every pot hole never mind the back pedal brake which hindered you going round corners as you could not lift them level.:scared:

Here is a strange electric bike, looks cool, orbital front wheel.

We've had two since 2013. Brompton Nanos from Nanobikes in Leamington Spa. If you get fed up of waiting for Brompton themselves and you'd like to pay a little less, you can get them immediately.
Enjoy!
Ordered from Lynda at Nanobikes. My bike will be ready at end of week ready for shipping. Can collect if I want.

Cancelled Brompton Electric order and deposit will be returned in 3 days.

I downloaded a comparison of both bikes from Nanobikes.co.uk website and not much difference in the two. More choice with nano: choice of bike, no waiting time, will run on Bosch 36v 4ah battery, of which 2 can be carried on plane, or larger battery.

Not long to wait.

Thank you very much LindaandNicole and WC community.

What a great and helpful lot you are. ;-)

Electric Bromptons batteries

They also run on Macallister batteries which are in B&Q at the moment for £115. We have one on a Macallister and one on a Bosch - can't tell the difference :)
Say hi to Lynda at nano for us - great bikes!!

Do you need a different adapter for each battery? [emoji275]

Buy a decent lock. If you try and insure an expensive bike they need a Gold Secure lock ..

It will be under table when WC-ing, not on bike rack. And with me when shopping. All locks are useless. Have you looked on YouTube? Frightening [emoji33]

Only just seen this thread.

If anybody is interested in an electric Brompton and already has an acoustic one, this guy
Brompton Wheels
is working on a retrofittable motor.
I can personally recommend his work as he fitted an eleven-speed Alfine hub to my Brommy and did a cracking job of it.

:)
