ADAC for us but never had to use it. I think last time it was €113 for the plus membership which covers the two of us and whatever vehicle we are in. I think they have or are intending to stop memberships from UK. You might get in under the wire and then be able to keep the membership going. Not heard of any horror stories about them but I'm sure some will exist.

Cheers

H

Same here The membership in ADAC

And they cover us in Morocco

It dose seem very expensive to me, my insurance and recovery is a similar price to your recovery ,comfort and caravan guard are bothe similar prices ,BUT you have a high level of cover ,one off the RAC or AA have a cover for disabled driver's with extra needs could worth a google Bazz.

Ours is £90 on top of our insurance. Through Adrian Flux.

Sadly used them last week with out any trouble. Well after a couple of calls from them to get size and weight of our van.. Then we were loaded and away to the garage.. Just make sure they know if your van is over 3500 weight. As some recovery companies don't take on heavier ones.

Think it's been confirmed that ADAC aren't taking on new members from the UK. Existing members can renew though.

I've always avoided bank accounts with monthly fees since I had one long time ago which included travel insurance and other , basically , useless deals . I worked out I could save £70 by changing bank account and buying my own insurance . I'm assuming this Nationwide account basically gives you a net profit ?
I have accounts with BoS and TSB which both pay 3[?]% interest with no monthly charges .

There is a monthly charge but I worked out that it was still cheaper as I was paying for two lots of breakdown cover i.e moho and car plus you get travel insurance and phone cover as well.

I should add as well Annie, when I took out the cover, I didn't really need breakdown cover as well!

I had overlooked the fact that my Visa Debit card also covers me for UK and European recovery for any vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes. Might be worth checking if you are similarly covered elsewhere.

I have a Visa Debit Card, can’t find any details of breakdown cover, can you point me in the direction of the details.TIA

We have Safeguard insurance, it has breakdown cover from the AA, also European cover, and unlimited mileage, which I would recon you need, I think it was about £430 renewal last year, which also included commute, which bumped it up about £30. Ours is under 3.5, but don't think it makes a difference when getting with insurance, would check though.

Green flag on telly will half your aa quote. But I have never been a member of GF. Or used them. only aa, longest wait 1.5 hours when not on motorways

Safeguard insurance and breakdown combined

Fully comp, unlimited mileage, 4,100kg motorhome, all singing all dancing breakdown including full 365 day euro cover ............. £330.

That`s also taking into account i have a PR1 *** post code :scared:

Most companies assume we are in Preston city centre because of the 1 in the postcode :mad2:

I was with green flag for about 10 years, in that time I never needed to use them, but the first time I did need them I was in Germany, where they left me stranded, long story but in the end I had to find and fund my own recovery home.

As this, ADAC no longer take new members from outside Germany.

From those that are already members, don't let it lapse.

Confirming what others have said ... ADAC is no longer an option for New Members (I joined around a month before they changed their policy, so got lucky there).

Weight-wise, neither the AA or the RAC will cover a vehicle over 3.5t on their standard personal policies.
Whether they do or not on some kind of commercial policy I don't know, but they certainly will come out to vehicles >3.5t as ADAC sub out to them for the UK Service.

Price-wise, both the AA and the RAC offer disloyalty discounts. Before I switched to ADAC, I used to alternate between the AA and the RAC on an annual basis to benefit from the considerable new customer discount, and also went via Quidco to get cashback discounts. I had occasionally called on renewal to see if they want to reduce their price but TBH I really can't be arsed as when companies can drop their prices so readily from their renewal quote I don't like speaking to them as it annoys me too much.
So if you are with the AA now, take out a new policy with the RAC (or vice-versa) - and remember to uncheck any "auto-renew" box.

Ok spoke to the AA this morning and now I have no roadside recovery as they did reduce to £150 but my MH at 3.875 they will not cover so where can I get stand alone breakdown cover for my overweight MH.

I too have the Nationwide Flex Account Insurance, and called them out while I was in Portugal without any problems, great service. also used them when I smashed the screen on my new mobile phone, and had an excellent service.
