We have just booked onto Blackpool haven site for 5 nights from Sunday, a super pitch inc ehu £10 pn. I know its nothing to do with wild camping before all the comments start but we wanted somewhere reasonably secure so we can leave the trailer and get the bikes off as it is a good base for the Forest of Bowland and Lancs. etc. That has to be a good deal.

It is. Especially when these days you could easily rack up ten quids worth of electric in 24 hours. I don't tend to stop on sites but I've noticed a few are now Charging a tenner for ehu on top of the pitch fee.

It's an amazing deal.

We often go to Haven Blackpool off peak.

£10 including ehu; use of pool; shop, restaurants; hard standing; water on pitch; free (with OAP pass) bus into town; £10 late night taxi home.

Doesn't suit everyone but we like it and only 40 mile trip.

Tip if you park with the bonnet facing the tower, the Sun rises at the rear of the pitch / shines on the left of the vehicle during the day / sets over the bonnet.
Tall trees provide shade if you want it.

If only all things in life were so predictable. It's only a base. A good job not everyone is the same or there would be no room on the campsite.

Nowt wrong with Blackpool for a bit of a laugh. I have a fond memory of going there in the van at least ten years ago for the light switch on. We were sat on the promenade with thousands of others watching the band's on the big screen and in a lull between groups someone let go of a Spongebob square pants balloon and the whole place cheered as it floated out high up over the sea. You had to be there really.

I lived there for two years 69 to 71 worked on all the rides cafes you name it I worked there, a gobsmacking place once you get to know it, it took six months for my knees to recover.

We recently moved there and I love the place. Ok it has some downsides and real poverty in places but so do many other towns. It has its own micro climate and we often enjoy the sun whilst big clouds are visible in the distance in all directions. Great entertainment available, good eateries and very friendly locals make it a good place to be.

That is cheap. I’ve got great memory’s of Blackpool seen some cracking shows there. Last time there we had right good win in the casino. I’ll have to take a wee trip there this year.

It`s only 20 - 30 minutes from me and i have the unfortunate task of going there regular to see the F-I-L.

Many years back we went to a private site near Abergele, North Wales just off the A55 and the wierd old guy in a self build on the pitch next to us had 4 bloody dogs which came onto our pitch to piss and shyte when he opened the sliding door.

I tried having a word with him but he just ignored me and wouldn`t open the door so i went to reception to complain.

They said the person on the pitch next to us didn`t have any dogs and was by himself so i showed them photos which i`d took of him letting them out and going back in again.

They sent security round to his pitch to have a look and he came back to report that there was 4 dogs in the camper with the old guy. Turned out there was a charge for dogs which even back then was £2 a dog ( i think ).

We went out for the day and when we got back he`d gone, the site manager called round to our pitched apologised and thanked me for reporting it, he`d refused to pay for the dogs so they asked him to leave.

I didn't realise it was Blackpool you moved to!


I think it is a place that people like to knock, usually without ever having been there. Only been a couple of times, and never overnight, but from I recall and saw it is a fun place to holiday and I would not hesitate to go there.
at £10/night may well be visiting soon

It is like Benidorm in that respect.

We saw a sign saying "Benidorm 15km" and decided to find a site for the night. We'd never been to Benidorm before but just knew that one night would be one too many and that we would hate it.

We stayed for four weeks!
