Best portable power for ghds?

Hi Kerrycamper
As a fellow GHD user, I went down the leisure battery and inverter route. This runs my hairdryer and GHDs. My leisure batteries are attached to 2 x victron solar panels (I’ve got a large rig), but the leisure battery/inverter option is well within your budget. I appreciate you stated you wanted a portable power pack, but thought I’d mention this anyway 👱🏻‍♀️
I've just measured the actual power taken by the SWMBOs hair straighteners and the results are quite surprising.
Their stated wattage is 42W but as they warm up they actually take a whopping 675 Watts!
I tried them on a smaller 600W/1200W peak pure sine inverter and it just wouldn't cut it.
These are not GHDs but are a set of Remingtons and they actually took 75 seconds to reach temperature, I'm just thinking that if GHDs or any other manufacturers for that matter heat up quicker than 75 secs then they'll probably take even more power!
So whether you go down the portable power pack route or the inverter route make sure you choose an appropriate output capability and go with a pure sinewave too as there's some quite complicated electronics built into them.

Okay boss  but to be fair they will have had notifications of replies but they have not looked in since they posted the OP, and there have been sensible answers in the thread, so I assume like so many forums they pop in ask, get an answer from somewhere and don't come back.

I have yet to see any thread stay on topic for long unless it a really serious subject.

And still the OP has not returned to look at his answers...maybe multiple sites were visited and another post was answered soon after it was put on here? Seems a waste of time but happend a fair bit!:giggle:

Meri is spot on about ghd's, at least he got the same answer we got plugging the wifes in to our inverter....they wont work....they dont like the waves. And not the wavy hair:D
Not on 600w, tried our 3000w one and its still the same but I think its buggered anyway and I cant be bothered to check it. I ain't got any hair..
Sally now gets straight hair when we get a street *ight to plug into.

Does anyone know or recommend a portable power pack suitable for ghd hair straighteners.?
I have about £900 quid and would like to know what’s best I can get for my money. Thanks guys :) is the brand anker recommended??
We had an Anker Bluetooth speaker it overheated on boat with smoke coming out of it when charged from cig lighter. Was very lightly used as well.
So won’t buy another Anker product.
