Rob, That the 150W figure is not accurate and is an 'average, when hot' consumption figure. They use what's called a PTC thermistor heating element which basically means that the hotter they get the less they consume, this regulates the temperature accurately but means that when first switched on from cold they take way way more power so they heat up rapidly. If I get the chance I'll measure the start current on SWMBO's and post. Also depends on what else you will use it for.
Just had a quick look and the GHD only uses about 150W so if just for that you would only need a relatively small powerbank to get a few uses. Have you considered a small inverter which would be a fraction of the cost?

Not so he is just high on paint fumesBTW Trevs not an idiot he’s an ejert, its a geographical difference.
They are looking at the average consumption over a longer time period so peeps have an idea of how much juice they use and how much they cost to run.I got the figure from the Q&A section on a John Lewis site. But this chart indicates up to 100W

I see what you mean though so maybe they aren't considering the initial load?
EDIT: Or as you say, an average load

GHD do an unplugged rechargeable cordless hair straightener that lasts for 20 mins and can be fully recharged in 120 minutes with a usb-c compatible device or inverter. No real need for a massive battery drain.
Isn’t this the answer with a low powered inverter connected to the leisure battery to use for charging?
SWMBO tried a rechargeable one and she said it was nowhere near as good as her mains straighteners, She's a fussy woman (after all she married me
I think Kerry has done a runner though maybe. This would get my vote as the best answer. Twenty five quid! Problem solved.
