It's a sculpture, there is a ring of them. The garden didn't open until 2000 so it won't be very old.
Great place to visit with an excellent CAMpRA aire 5 miles away. We needed 2 days to do all the parkland and formal gardens.

That explains it Sharon, I've been trying to look it up as I thought it looked Celtic.

I couldn't find that particular stone but some other recent sculptures were shown.
