Arghhhhh! Broken the bed again!!

Hmm, seeing that helps so essentially 2 L shapes at different heights very doable then, but you need a bloke who knows how to use a press brake, or maybe welding two lengths together might be more easier.

I assume Tim would have a pukka press brake, I'd have happily had a go with a 6 inch bit to test the fitting but I don't have the gear nowadays, but it is simple engineering.

Tim would no doubt be the man but I don't really want to hassle him with the job as it will be more work than you imagine and he's a long way away. I put out a post on the local fb groups for Richmond and Barnard Castle though and got a fair few replies. These people are quite near to me and they do a lot of work for an old client of mine by the sound of it. They are not actually in Darlington. Just about 8 miles down the road from here.

Will sound them out. Of course at the moment I have two full sets of brand new supports which Swift sent me as the last lot broke so it could be I just got a bad set but I dont think so. They would do this year though if I cant get anything better done straight away.

How are you breaking them anyway? without the obvious guffaw, I assume that it's where when you have the bed set up king size and it is where you get in or out, all the weight is focused in that small area, we saw this as a weak spot on few vans and made sure we put our hand on to take part of our weight, then climbed onto the bed, what we did do on one van was put a bit of slaters lathe vertically under nearer end, jus held in place with some clear silicone adhesive.

I'm a rock star shag god so you figure it out. :D

Oddly the side thats broke most is not the side where most of the weight is. Anyway. I reckon ill sound out some fabricators just to get an idea, maybe let them take a look at it but I might see how it goes this year with the two sets I have. If its not too big a job and they can do it soon ill get it done now. My guess is they will just make the parts and not fit them but it might not be that tricky to do that myself.

Just repair like for like and think there that should be good for another 10 years with a bit of care. Get this bought it is for nothing it looks the same I think.

Thats the point though. They aren't. They were replaced earlier last year after the first ones broke last Christmas. The brand new set didn't last six months. I have a source that can get 4m lengths for £60 and I have two new full sets but it needs a permanent fix. Now it could be that the ones that broke last Christmas were the originals and just got brittle and its possible the replacement set were defective but my gut feeling is they just aren't fit for purpose.
