' A bear went over the mountain, to see what he could see; and all that he could see was the other side of the mountain' No offence. Just wanted to tell you that it is not allways sunshine overhere. We have the same problems with politicians, powers, police, crime, general attitude, corruption, immigrants, stupidy ,foolish lawproposals, linguistic problems ..name it.
Only we say more 'you can stick it in a place the sun never shines' :p and have another pint. And we survive somehow
The French are good in that, but the Belgians are better :p
Cheer up mate, Britain is quite OK :D

hi
is berick still in England or is it in scotland now or was this a spoof.
Trouble when you work is that you only pick up bits.

Anyway where am I going?
This Friday son is taking Gladys (motorhome) round to his to treat her to a wash. this could be my mother's day pressy or could be he wants to borrow her. BUT I WILL NOT HOLD MY BREATH.
SATURDAY
Seeing she passed her MOT she is now going for a service.
SUNDAY
sorting my 90 year old dad out as he is having central heating fitted beginning of the week
NEXT FRIDAY
Going for the weekend to Siddington village hall for N.E.C.D.A. AGM

SATURDAY after
scattering my hubby's ashes over the sea at Abersoch (hope we don,t get done for pollution) (it would make good headlines though)

Following MONDAY
down to mid wales to watch the red kites.

Following THURSDAY
Clitheroe N.E.C.D.A Easter meet
then up to Silverdale.
Then back to work and i will then sort out my weekends.

Hi G, the best think I ever did was kicking work in the head, OK I am lucky if you can look at that was, I have a pension from the army for my knee (the other parts don,t get anything lols) But the most importand thing we all have is time, And if you can go part time and get out enjoying life.
People I am not knocking England I love the place, I just wish that it was a better place, who the hell wants a parking ticket on a sunny sunday, lots of parking places so its just for the money, It just pulls us all down.
He did try to give me one, but as I drive on french plates it was a non starter, god he was so upset.
Anyway I am glad that you are all getting out there and some great places, would love to go back to india but can,t due to having two dogs, and going for a week or two is just not worth it.

Berwick is still in England although I believe it has changed from England to Scotland 13 times in the last few hundred years and there have been recent rumblings about another change.

BTW. We also have red kites up here in the Tyne valley

Just got back from 3 nights in the Dellamere forrest ( on CCC site due to -6 temps every night). The area and forrest are Fantastic but I am fuming mad at the disgusting behavior of our fellow citizens. I have walked over 15 miles of trails through this forrest and the areas within 1 mile of the road and car parks are like a landfill site, everything from the remains of picnics, crisp packets, carriers, cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles, napkins, polystyrene cups, even used nappies. Absolutely disgusting, this coupled with the new habit of what I call (doggy do deco) those tightly tied coloured plastic bags full of dog s**t that are left dangling from trees hedges and fences. ( who do they think is going to collect them? the doggy do fairy). All this has left a tainted memory of my break. that people can desecrate such natural beauty with their crap, so spoiling it for those that follow.............. Right rant over. My next trip will be Hayfield opening w/e 14/15 March. Easter in Bakewell. End of May Yorkshire Dales Appletreewick. then The Western isles Via Skye in late July which I am as excited as a kid to Explore. Just hope that is far enough away from the littering Riff Raff.

I always have a poketful of plastic bags, when I take the dog for a walk.
and when-ever I see a dog relieve himself, (no fault of the dog)
I offer the owner a bag, and watch the look on his face as he accepts
and does what he should have done in the first place
 :D :D

pet supliers ought to to give a free carrier bag with each animal purchaced just as a reminder

odd people clean up after your dog and hang it up in a tree, not that i condone this but surely it would have been better to have left it on the ground to degrade than to hang it in a tree. perhaps they have doggy poo trees at home??

This will be my first time watching the tour in the van I have only info on where they finish daily. Hoping to catch them in the alps and be one of maney vans in the hills:D

I have been trying to find more detailed info on the stages as which villages they go through but to no avail yet, if I find I will post it, probably someone will beat me to it:eek: hopefully:D:D

this weekend

rallye sunseeker is in dorset through the local forests
yes there is forests in dorset
starts in bournemouth in the morning sat 23.02.08 covers parts of south dorset in various locations over the weekend betwen ringwood and wareham
...WHO IS SUNSEEKER...
they make wild camping vehicles that go on the sea any thing from a few thousand quid to a few million quid .your choice what you prefer.
i prefer the road going camping ones my self
but we enjoy do clambering through the woods in the fresh air ,
just to see these cars going faster through forest tracks than i would go on the road is quite frightning but exilerating

our plans...

....2 weeks in northern France in July/Aug. Then off to Cornwall, stopping at the yha activity centre in Okehampton for a couple of nights on the way to north of Newquay, I think its Padstow.

London for the weekend at the end of March.

Iceland in October.

I am looking at somewhere for a week in Aug, may go to north Wales, or Brighton area, not sure really.
Louby

Louby, you are right, Padstow is up the road from Newquay. If you do come this way, a little further on is Perranporth, Chapelporth and Porthtowan. Lovely beaches and places to park for the day. When the tides out you can walk along the sands from one cove to the other. Or across the cliffs and get a birds eye view of the Atlantic coastline and the surfers.

iceland

Hi, now that is a place I would want to go, are you taking the motorhome or is it an hotel job, Told its very very expensive, but must be worth it just to see all that snow and ice. what are you planning to do out there, any ideas on ice fishing.

Hi Terry, we have looked into taking our van, the c&cc do a ferry to iceland, but its a long journey: 31 hours, we decided that would do that trip when the children have flown. On the return journey you stay on one of the little islands for a night.

Time is a bit short for us so we decided to make it a flying trip only 2+hours. It is very, very expensive so we are staying in the yha in the centre of Rykjevic, all the trips start from there.

Our itinerary is very full, we are going to see the shooting geyser and the glacier and the geothermic pools for a swim at the Blue lagoon. We are going in winter so we can see the northern lights. A few other things too, but I can't put my hand on my list. These trips are very expensive too, but this will be our 'big' holiday this year, so no Florida at christmas.
Louby

This year if the weather behaves itself, we are hopeing to stay in the UK, doing a month or so early Spring in Scotland, then home a couple of weeks and then down Bath Bristol / Gowan Pininsular / Forest of Dean, for as long as it takes thats the rough plan if anyone has any secret spots in any of these areas they would be willing to share, would love to know.:)

Hi Terry,
No way to wave you. You just cannot near it by foot.
Mind the daily queu at the tunnel. Take the utmost right lane if you want to go through the tunnel and beware: there are 2 leftside inlanes before the tunnel. Quite a mess ! (also mind the speed cameras)
If you want to visit Antwerp there is a MH parking at the left bank of the Scheldt: 'Gloriantlaan.' Half an hour by foot through the pedestrian tunnel, or 15 min by bus to the centre.
You have to take then at 'Burcht' the outmost LEFT lane and follow 'Linkeroever'. Before the old tunnel take left and continue as far as you can go. Gloriantlaan:N 51°14” 06.15”E4°23’10.59” Services at 'camping De Molen' nearby.
Have a good trip, ;)

its ok Leo i have been using the tunnel regularly on my way to deliver to a customer (johnson&johnson)at mijdrecht just south of amsterdam for the past 10 years i also use this route on my way to visit friends in copenhagen .i know most short cuts round antwerp sometimes it is quicker to use the leifkenshoek tunnel it depends on the trafic but thanks for your concern
we will be passsing antwerp around 18.00 on thursday evening so i am expecting most of the trafic to be heading north after we get to antwerp we hope to be in den haag by 21.00 if we get through rotterdam ok but i know local roads so we should be ok
we stop with friends near rijnsburg .
cheers terry
