Another Shower Repair

Got a leak from around the plughole in the shower tray and a gentle poke at the metal insert just pushed through.

The van is an eighteen year old Hymer and I don't want to go to the expense / hassle of replacing the complete tray, which is in otherwise good condition. So what I've come up with is fabricating what is basically a big washer 75mm diameter with a 35mm hole for the plughole out of 2mm Ali sheet and fixing this over the existing, now oversize hole. The surfaces will be cleaned up with isopropyl alcohol and I intend using white Evostik 'Sticks Like Sh*t' to bond the repair to the tray. After fitting I will give it a couple of coats of white Hammerite just to deter the Ali from oxidising too rapidly, although the shower isn't greatly used.

I've never used Sticks Like Sh*t and would appreciate any advice from those of you who have, or any alternatives that you have used successfully in a similar situation.

Cheers

The same has happened in my Hobby...would be interested in seeing pics of your repair...I was going to attempt to superglue the broken plastic fragments, and then smear over a thin screed of fibre glass car filler.

Sounds ok, but you'll find a bit more water staying in the tray.

I'm not sure sticks like is billed as waterproof - please check.

Not bothered about an extra mm or two left in the tray, it never fully drains in any case unless we are parked on an Alp. The sealant is waterproof and is of the same family as Stixall from what I have read.

Got my plate fabricated now and it looks like it will do the job. Has anyone used Stixall for this kind of job? we will be away for a few days and if I order it from Ebay it will be here when we get back. https://youtu.be/P1iqIOpHR5c looks pretty impressive.

Thanks for the replies.
