Another battery thread

Our X250 seat base would normally take 2x same battery size as VB, which I think is 353long x 190high x 175wide. Because we have an invertor installed under the seat am limited to 2x 75Ah batteries which are 278long x 190high x 175wide. So quite why Rec is limited I don't know.
I would note that to get the larger batteries in, the seat has to come off the base, and the batteries dropped in from the top.

You mentioned X250 seat base? Just a comment to say the X250 and X280 (facelift from c2016) are identical in the space available.

The only x290 I have good access to is a WildAx, the main seat base appears to be identical to x250, but it hasn't got the OEM swivel, should take same length and width batteries, height might be a bit tighter but I'd guess 190 should fit OK, I wonder if Rec has additional equipment under seat, as we have.

The reason I know it is the same is using my own X250 (MY 2007) van as a template for various X280 underseat installations and noting that all the fittings and accessories (underseat tray for Drivers, toolkit for Passengers) are identical WHEN they are present.
(of course, some have the EBL PDUs, some have batteries under the seat, some have B2Bs as standard).

All the vans also have the swivels as well - I don't think that is a factor for space, which is good.

Yes, we do have the charger and inverter under the seat. It hasn't got the swivel seat. When it was converted he also put metal rods in either side to hold the battery firmly in place. This makes the 320 "length" ( sorry, @wildebus bus ! :) ) . Battery has been delivered but waiting till tomorrow to fit it as need to park off road. Certain it will do the job...did you find more about the hybrid battery?

OK, that makes sense, many modern vehicles now use base clamping for batteries, very secure and gives you the full width of seat for battery.
 
Another daft thing in veh today is batteries inside under seats, best out front where you can get to with jumper leads and whip the blighter out for bench charge or a change when required.

I went for an Ecobat lithium which is a straight drop in fit with my Sergeant charging system and solar panel . I checked compatibility with Ecobat technical first just to be sure, then ordered it (100ah) through Go Outdoors for £299 inc carriage which is an amazing deal as the next best price I found was £420 + carriage

What do you suggest they remove from the engine bay to fit another battery, you know yourself that FWD vehicles have no spare room, I had a 1994 Transit based Ci Meridian some years ago and the engine battery was on one side and the LB on the other, it was better but there is no chance of seeing that configuration these days

My car is fwd and the battery is in there, just bad setup these days for vans, im not a fan of fwd as to time consuming changing things like clutches starters etc, its just easy at factory to do this when on assy line, ferk all use for the buyer.
