Does anyone have this in their MH?

If so I'd welcome your thoughts on it's use and effectiveness.

Not the current van, but we had it in our last one. It was good, warmed the van up quickly, didn't seem to draw more power than we expected - was there anything in particular you wanted to know?

Did you hvae to top it up with antifreeze?
 
I have Alde, it is great.

Never needed to top up the cooling system (since 2015), but have had it changed a couple of times as part of hab service.

Seem to be three common problems reported.
1) Heating not functioning because it is set on night mode during the day (operator error)
2) Automatically switching off before temp reached. There is an adjustment to correct sensor but people don't read the manual
3) No heat on EHU because the breaker on PDU has tripped.

Despite it being against WC rules I recommend reading the manual!
 
We had alde heating in our last van. We thought it was quiet to run and very effective. There was an easy to access reservoir in a bathroom cupboard which we had to top up occasionally. We found it was a bit slow in heating up the van, but was excellent once it got up to temperature.

It was easy to use, maybe not quite as straightforward as our current Truma system but easy once we'd learned the way to set it. Wehad no problems and didn't use antifreeze.
 
We had the Alde we system in our Burstner which was an older system but changed the sliding switch to touch screen and was simple to use. There is also a heat exchanger with a bypass manual valve which can be used to pre

heat the engine if in extreme conditions but think it also worked by heating the hab area when driving. You will only have to top up if you have a leaking connection somewhere on the system. I found it a better heat than the blown system we have now.
 
I had it in my previous van, a kontiki, and really liked it. It provided an even heat throughout the van even in -10C temperatures and didn't 'dry' the air.
Like any heating system, it needs to be designed well to cope with any demands placed on it, ie sufficient capacity to heat the space required.
 
After 3 weeks use in my new van:
  • Works very similar to home central heating, so not instant.
  • Keeps all the Van at even temperature
  • Probably uses a bit more gas as you don't get ought for nought, with no cold spots
  • Mine has programmable timers .
  • Don't have individual control on areas
  • Overall pleased with it.

Alde heating fluid should be changed every 5 years if it is the newer pink/magenta fluid, which provides a 5-year corrosion and freeze protection. If your system has the older blue fluid, it needs to be changed after 2 years, and then you should switch to the 5-year pink fluid to reduce future maintenance costs and hassle, as recommended by Alde UK and Bristol Caravans and Motorhome
 
We've Alde heating inner current van and can't fault it, very quiet on electric EHU but you need to adjust the power setting to suit the power supply your connected to .. 6amp = 1kwh 10amp 2kwt and 16amp 3kwt. Its possible to use on a 6amp EHU supply but will take quite a long time to heat. When on gas its very good, but I've ben told it uses more gas than other systems but I've never seen any statistics on that. I did read something recently saying they were changing to diesel from gas to help future proof the system..
