Air suspension

Think I would head down to the weigh bridge and get it weighed with all your kit in first then work out what load you have on the axles. Don't forget to fill with water, passengers, food, bedding and full tank of diesel.
I'm really strict about checking van weights always pop in local weighbridge before doing a major trip out , 6 months ago had van uprated to 4.5 ton total even though weights on axles are within limits.

Is the cheapo one self leveling for camper as well as for driving.
I'm thinking for my lwb sprinter, will it lower access for doors when parked. Especially the rear doors?
My motorhome is based on a big Sprinter, and it has air suspension (not air assist, whcih is what others are talking about).
Basically, the rear springs have been replaced with different ones, that only attach at the front. They don't actually do any springing, they're just pivots.
There are proper commercial vehicle airsprings at the back end of the springs, which are inflated from an air tank, through a complex set of valves and relays, and an automatic pump that keeps the tank air pressure at about 150psi.
There is a De Dion bar fitted to provide lateral stability, and I can press a button on the dash to lower the back end by quite lot.
All this must have cost a considerable amount of money (it was fitted by a previous owner), but it is a really good quality installation and it gives a smooth, stable and quiet ride.
It was fitted by a company who are in longer in business. Drinkwater, I think they're called.
However, this is only on the rear axle. At the time, Mercedes would not allow air suspension to be fitted at the front, but they do now.
I think Phil the Forum head honcho has air suspension all round on his Sprinter, but I recall that it suffered a catastrophic failure, despite costing an eye-watering amount of money.
There is a company in Norfolk who make an air spring kit for the front end of Sprinter chassis, but there is a fair bit of cutting and welding involved, and they no longer fit them for you, because the owner is getting quite elderly.
