Admin's VW Transporter T6 4Motion self build (the outside)

Looking good Phil 👍.
My Landy has passed its MOT every year with the ladder in place & thats 18 MOT’s as it is now 21 years oldView attachment 120053

Yes I have seen similar comments from other Landrover owners.

It would seem that obscuring a number plate is illegal and an MOT failure but it all depends on your local police/MOT tester.

Once the VBAir Suspension is installed it will be 30mm taller and I will be able to take it higher in off road mode.
Be carefull you dont muck up the camber and trail on front axle as this may alter how it stears/turns and general rd behavour including edge tyre wear, remeber the mk 1 hilman imps, makers had to change angle of stub axles.

30mm will not make any difference and in off road mode it wouldn't matter so much.
Unless Phil meant 30cm then it is worth checking👍

From stock, the van will have 15cm more ground clearance, and then with a push of a button, I can raise it higher.
I am not planning to go down green lanes with the modified land rovers.

I don't see a problem so I hope you did not take it that way, I worked in the development at Freight Rover so have a lot of experience with altering ride nights, steering and suspension angles, other chassis modifications, what you are proposing does not concern me one bit, I wish I was younger and going down the same path👍

I have put a lot of thought and research into the van. It should be pretty capable with a physical rear diff lock and the ability to effectively lock the transfer case, giving a 50/50 front-to-rear drive split. The front has an electronic diff lock (via brakes). It also has BFGoodridge KO/2 all-terrain tyres. It will also have a front 6000kg winch, and I will carry four recovery boards. I have straps, soft shackles, a snatch block, a shovel and other bits of kit.

Another good thing about the t6 is that with fully independent suspension, there is no axle-mounted diff to ground at the back end.

All sounds good to me.
Just make sure you have a mate with a Land Cruiser or G wagen around, before you venture off .

Oh to have be able to afford a G Wagon these days Mark!
Theres still nothing built like a G Wagen, but I'd go for the Grenadier these days, important bits designed by the same people.
I'm not going back to a tent though :ROFLMAO:

I still love tent camping Mark, especially now I've got the bike.

Don't mind a B&B either though.

Tents were fine for a night, maybe two in good weather but if it starts raining it really is a crap trip.

Tw*t so when you come out of your waterproof tent you get wet, been there many times I got over it after a while.

I found the rain in Spain fell mainly wherever the feck I happened to be :( :(

Same in a campervan, motorhome or hotel Kev.

The tent I use on my bike has more room than most campers and I can cook in it.
