AdBlue prices

I don't think the older diesels were quite so bad for NOXs. Loads of smoke particles though and if you also smoked that probably accounts for the 'noxious state'.😁. Increasing efficiency started to push temperatures up a bit and that does increase NOX.

I'm not so sure if that is true, but it's possible. Modern diesels do burn at a higher temperature, and diesels are lean burn, creating the NOx.

Lean burn petrols which have been tried in the past create as much NOx as diesels.

1) In Germany, I recall adBlu being about 30c / litre
2) in my Mercedes AutoSleeper Bourton I did 8000 miles and then it 'needed' 10 litres but that filled it to a much higher level than before I added some. I don't understand why some people have to shove gallons of the stuff in.

Anyway I dumped the AutoSleeper as soon as I could find a buyer - one year after I bought it, and £18,000 less than I paid. And it was 4 years old when I bought it, that's not the first year's depreciation. It lost £48,000 in 18,000 miles and five years. Absolute garbage, steer clear of them. The Mercedes bit was fine, but don't you ever buy a new Autosleeper coachbuilt . . . . . . .

rare metals to produce the batteries etc.
A quick update, when Chump first introduced tariffs I posted somewhere on t'internet, "don't expect China to be issuing rare earth export licenses to US in any hurry", well the world is now realising just how we are dependent on these materials, most car companies are now facing shutting down production of all production (including ICE) in a few weeks unless something changes fast.

Because it's such an infrequent fill up I've never really paid attention to AdBlue prices, until last week. In Sheffield the warning came on and I pulled into a Shell garage and pumped £6 worth. I gave up at that point because the dispenser was painfully slow. I noticed it was £1.49 per litre.
Back in East Lothian I completed the fill at another Shell station. This time £1.79 per litre!! I think both prices are cheaper than buying the stuff in 10 litre containers, but Ii was shocked at the price difference. Am I imagining it, or was it quite recently generally available at the pump for 99p per litre?
I’ve found on some dispensers if you can stick a little finger up the gap between spout and the outer pipe you can push the magnetic ring up to increase the flow.

It's a mercy there's some previous context for your advice here 😁
