A plea for LR Kingsand, Cornwall

Yes your analogy is correct but a bit of courtesy and sensitivity go a long way in oiling the wheels of our society.

Unfortunately many beautiful areas cannot cope with the influx of visitors and more unfortunately motorhomes are very big compared to cars! As I'm sure you know.

In our area all car parks are filled with visitors' cars for 6 to 8 weeks.

Getting up early won't get you a spot at the only car park with a view if it is full of overnighters…many people are unable to walk up the steep hill to said viewing point…I did say that 3 overnighters would be fine out of 10/12 places.

So actually, I would say that in this case courtesy and sensitivity are very logical!

Also if the locals should be more understanding then shouldn't the motorhomers be more understanding too? Talking of logic'n'all…😜
FWIW, I'm one of those 'old fogies' who've had to move on because there was no room at the Triangle. TBH, space is at a premium all along Whitsand Bay and even if there weren't half a dozen or more 'van lifers' up at the Triangle, there's a good chance it would be full up with cars -- mostly non-local registrations -- particularly in Summer. However, then the second homers/holiday lets would shoulder the blame rather than us!

Cornwall and several other areas do publish terrible rubbish hate speak about campervaners, inacurate rabble rousing stuff for the benefit of - who exactly? ah! yes, interested parties, ie campsite & hotel & b&b owners. Have you seen the prices charged by cornish campsites in season? Simple answer for us is always go with masses of food & water, do not spend a dime in any area that exhibits the no campervans no cooking no eating no sleeping signs. And we don't use a chemical loo. Grey waterwise it goes on grass verges in the countryside, not down drains. Have you seen the stuff farmers put on fields and your food crops? Enough said.

The problem with spending no money in an area is that it is the council not the local businesses that are anti motorhome.
The only people that would suffer from you not spending would be the local traders and then they would resent us also....

I just avoid the popular honey pots and places that are overtly Anti motorhome...

Life's too short for the negativity being somewhere I'm not wanted brings...

I like shopping and eating/drinking local when we're away and enjoy trying to confound any anti feeling there is...
I deliberately brimmed our fuel tank at Kilchoan stores on Ardnamurchan... Much to the puzzlement of the owners (community run and they said most folks only put the bare minimum in)

I'd rather pay a little extra for the fuel (and food/drink) we bought the 2 weeks we were there...
And it STILL be there next time I visit,
ideally with a warm welcome and a smile.

I see that was your first post on here.
Two wrongs don't make a right.
I hope when you dump your grey water grass verges it’s done discretely.
We know it’s harmless, but it looks bad, and how it looks matters.
As for your comment about not using a chemical loo, I think that’s needs expanding.
But remember anyone can read these posts, and not everyone is a fan of ours.
Feeding them with ammo will enhance their case for stricter measures against us.
