  1. Tow ball mounted bike racks for electric bikes

My friend has one of these on his motorhome, for 2 leccy bikes - its very good, and uses a handle operated winch to raise it. Would be too heavy for fitting to one of the back doors on a PVC though.... https://theleisurewarehouse.co.uk/products/fiamma-lift-77-winch-bike-rack?variant=3551026610205
  2. Tow ball mounted bike racks for electric bikes

You are right, but in practise, with this strap fairly tight, it doesnt move much, and if the bike was tight to the spare wheel, some sort of padding could be used.
  3. Tow ball mounted bike racks for electric bikes

Just taken a pic of the rack with no bike on. This is on a citroen relay. The distance from the face of the back door to the centre of the bike wheel 'track' is 40cm, so you could work out what space you have, given the 'thickness' of your bike etc... hope this helps.
  4. Tow ball mounted bike racks for electric bikes

The spare wheel would be a good back up anchor point for the rack (I use a strap from the top of the bike to the door mounted frame). This stops it moving at all...
  5. Tow ball mounted bike racks for electric bikes

No, it locks in the vertical position (for safety I suppose)..otherwise it swings down to, say, 45 degrees. (There is a catch you release to lower it)
  6. Tow ball mounted bike racks for electric bikes

See Picture, but I reckon there would be clearance for a wheel, and there is no reason why the rack cant be angled (left / right) to give more clearance for the wheel mounted on one of the rear doors... In my pic, I have 2 Cube electric bikes (I always turn the handlebars 90 degrees so they fit...
  7. Tow ball mounted bike racks for electric bikes

I have a buzzrack e-scorpion for 2 leccy bikes (50kg with batteries). Its very good and swings down so on a hatchback car you can get in the boot. Still doesnt swing low enough for the back doors to open on my citroen relay thoigh. Its a bit cheaper than the Thule one i think. (PS Its not for...
  8. Cameron McNeish on Mull

Mull will be a different place this weekend, with the annual rally (I will be servicing as usual). I have never had a problem with WC on Mull - the locals are generally fine (couldnt care less!) - its the White settlers that cause the aggro!!
  9. Ducato wheel size change - 15" to 16"

I am not sure how to sort it out, presumably the BCM (body control module)? may need re-programming to enter the new rolling diameter...
  10. Ducato wheel size change - 15" to 16"

When I did exactly the same change, as you say the speedo is now exactly correct, however, the odometer is now around 7% under reading, so any mpg readings off the trip computer are also out... Is yours the same?
  11. Fresh water tank monitor

Thanks for the link - A great idea, I was going to make one (I even have the flow sensor), but at that price, its not worth it.... https://www.multipure.com/content/DigiFlow-8100T-1_4.pdf?srsltid=AfmBOooGx36mu9rFZILIbEuXlVJIcCTXb8OzE49mqSsrGVBX1EYm1jbH
  12. European breakdown cover

I use Britannia as well, with their personal cover, it covers you (and spouse) for ANY vehicle you are in, even if it doesnt belong to you (hence no questions about your vehicle). It also covers classic cars (I have one 70 years old, and one 90 years old). Excellent deal, they used to be part of...
  13. Dealer blaming DVLA

Recently I have had major problems with DVLA registering classic cars, they are completely unreliable, and often change their requirements overnight. I wouldnt be surprised if the dealer is telling the truth, but you need to get the full story.
  14. Older Motorhome possible issues

Mick Perhaps consider using Quirky campers to advertise it (less facebook idiots / scammers)...I just sold my old 4wd motorhome on there, a week ago to similar money to yours. Standard ad is £20, but well worth it I think... I could have sold mine 5 times over, and I am in Scotland as...
  15. Older Motorhome possible issues

For the OP, you probably already know, but check the MOT history of any contenders on the DVLA website. This is critical to knowing a bit about a vehicles repair history, that might have been 'covered up' or not revealed in a sales pitch.. Means you can weed out the bad ones from your armchair...
  16. Older Motorhome possible issues

From personal experience, i wouldnt get anything based on a transit around that age....unless they had extra undersealing from new, they tend to rust very badly...
  17. Bike Racks: Advice Wanted

My BIL has a van swing, and carries 2 electric bikes, my only criticism, is that it extends the distance from the back of the van quite a lot, and must add at least a metre to the o/a length. I use a tow bar mounting Buzz rack (for 2 e bikes), this does tilt down, but still not enough to open...
  18. Baleshare Beach, north Uist

If you travel a few miles further up, to Clachan sands, its a much nicer (in my opinion!) sandy beach - extends to around 2 miles in each direction. Park on the dunes, and there is a honesty box. Grid Ref 872768.. Pic below shows our van, the beach extends the same distance in the other...
