  1. Finding locations on a route?

If travelling it's difficult to know how far we will get before feeling tired. So we tend to stop about 3.00. Find some POIs on our route, an hour or two ahead and plot sat nav. Usually do plan A,B and C. This works really well abroad too (using other brands of app too!)
  2. Campfire Goodies

  5. Stay longer in EU with UK and OZ passports

She's risk adverse and just discovered how expensive ferries to Greece and then Crete are! So may not be coming at all now. Sadly. BUT interestingly it seems Aussies can stay in the EU longer than Brits. Australia and some EU members (such as D, B, Dk) have bilateral agreements where...
  6. Stay longer in EU with UK and OZ passports

Opinions welcome. I'm a Greek resident. A friend will drive over in hermotorhome to stay for a few months and then would like to do a slow road trip back to UK, taking her over 90/180 in Schengen. Appreciate max for a UK vehicle in Europe is 6 months in 12. She has both UK and Australian...
  7. begorrah it’s official

Got my Irish passport in June this year. Fortunately Dad had all bar one doc needed. He had photocopy of the missing one, so easy to order a replacement. I applied to register my birth in Sep 2019. Got birth registration in February this year. So with demand and Covid, it wasn't a quick...

  10. Slovenia - any tips?

Agree re bohinj. Cycled to end of the lake and then walked up to the Slap (waterfall!). We spent 5 weeks in SLOVEnia and LOVED it. As it was our first year full time, we were law abiding and mostly used sites. I did come across a book of agrorourism park ups (France Passion), but it was...

  12. No LPG? Why?

Having read about LPG shortages in the UK, we filled up before we arrived back. But the time came, we needed gas. How Far would we have to drive? Only 5 miles! The lady that served me said they had never had shortages or lack of supply. Their tank tells Color when it is at 25%. Within 4...
  13. Agism or Sexism Getting Insurance

Definitely ageism. Last year I added a 52 year old to my policy who was driving the car back to the UK with Cretan rescue dogs. There were 3 of us on the policy already... 2 older codgers 😆 James and my father. The premium actually went DOWN!!!
  14. Brits abroad ?

Over in Crete, all I can hear is German voices (D and CH) with the odd French. Mostly flown in for holidays, but a few motorhomes.
  15. BREAKDOWN BREAKDOWN MOTORHOME COVER IN TURKEY?

Know a few folk done it or headed that way. Who are you using for BREAKDOWN COVER? We have RAC Arrivals Zone 3 which covers only European Turkey. Sterling, who covered us before, no longer offer breakdown cover since ******. Tourinsure, seem to be a German company, want about eur4000...

  18. Taking food into EU/France.

This time we drove via Antibes to see James daughter. But normally we drive free roads through belguim and Luxembourg. Basle pay for annual vignette or 10 days for >3.5 ton. Gotthard Tunnel free but avoid peak times due to trucks. Italian paying motorways down to Ancona. At the moment Italy...
  19. Taking food into EU/France.

We were fully loaded ... all the things expensive or hard to get in Crete. Unpacking today, think i counted 9 tins of coconut milk and 4 of corned beef. Obviously won't cook those together! No checks at all.
  20. Tests for travel by Eurotunnel

Drove from Fr to Italy on Monday... no border checks. We were 36 hr transit so no need for tests etc. Had done the EU plf but no one asked to see it. And no one batted an eye about us being in Italy. More mask wearing, even when out in the countryside walking than we've seen ... and by a...
