A friend of mine has an old Wildmoor PRV de-mountable camper that mounts via rollers on the pick up bed, so its easy to 'drive away'.
Its based on a Mitsi L200 4x4 single cab.
(He is actually about to sell it...)...
I slightly misled you with diff lock, our older 4x4's have no centre diff - so going into 4x4 mode (H or L ratio) locks front and rear axles directly.
It does have front auto freewheel hubs though.
There is a good section in the owners manual on how to use it.
My other Delica (L400) had viscous...
Answer is, its very capable!
Just back from a week in the Scottish borders.
Towed a lwb transit m/h out (twice!) off muddy field which is becoming the norm now.
Downside is height with overhanging branches, and not good on sideslopes.
Make sure you engage low ratio and diff lock now and again...
The red squirrel camp site Glencoe gets my vote for the most expensive site - great location, but for a family of 4 ( with 2 teenage kids) its £50 a night for a tent!!
Glencoe now only taking pre-booked vans due to abuse of their Covid rules, (and also not getting any donations).
Shame the majority have spoiled it for the few again, but well done Glencoe resort we fully understand.

I stayed in a forest car park a couple of weeks back and a large m/h had taken up a complete bay of 4 car spaces by parking lengthways.
It rightly Got a few dirty looks from the dog walkers who arrived early morning and had to park on one of the other few bays there were.
We will only ever use...
Still plenty of quiet places if you are prepared to get an OS map out, and find some small roads.
The 2 different lochs are only 15m from Oban taken last week (and yes, we removed all traces of the fire).
No animosity from the few people we met (1 lady even apologised for the weather!).
A few years ago, my lad paid £180 for a week repairing NT paths in Kintail, but all bunkhouse accomodation and food was provided, he had a great time, and was a working holiday for him.
Also just had 2weeks away in the SW of Scotland (Argyll) and very surprised how quiet it has been, and plenty of lonely places to wild camp, although after 40 years of touring here, I know the best bits! (Kilmartin glen and loch Creran to name a couple).
However Oban and Glencoe were a...
Personally I hate the term wild camping, but respect the view of the majority on this site, and like the site and all it stands for.
I come from a background of backpacking in Scotland where you carry all your needs for a couple of nights or so on your back.
(I still do this occasionally)...
We are out and about in argyll at the moment (its very very quiet) and used a few FC sites and been on our own at each of them.
Was surprised to see the FC are doing this - about time too.
Excellent idea for responsible visitors.
Just had a similar problem with my ebay 'Dunlop' set - I was just about to get one of my tyres re-fitted due to a slow leak, shown by the TPMS - but its seems its actually the little sensor that is leaking. Think I will just go back to manually checking tyres before every journey.
One more vote for the Vax Gator 18v - bit more affordable than the dyson, and does us just fine, even with dog hairs everywhere.

My all in one heater just arrived only took 2 days and at £71 plus another £12 for a mains to 12v 20a power supply, its an absolute bargain.
Will be fitting it today. and running the exhaust through the blockwall of the garage.
Thanks - yes thats the sort I will probably get - there a few on at £75 at the moment on ebay
Just had a cheeky offer of £71 accepted. My workshop is going to be toasty warm this winter.
just need to drain some red diesel from my tractor to try it.
Dave.
