could you not fit the one old arthur had onto you extion arm and use your glass as it heated
Well it has gone too far for that, I have taken the whole assembly off the van and have the door interior removed too, to get at the wiring ,I could put it all back together I guess , but frankly cant be bothered ,so will just sit it out and see where it goes, very annoying though.what a sod..... is it possible to do a temporary sticky-tape lash up with a basic glass-only mirror and get the real part posted onto you to Europe ?

Yes, quite a saga. have been in contact with the seller. a courier called yesterday to collect a parcel to go to Chatham, I know nothing about that I say, off he goes, it turns out that the mirror I ordered went to Chatham and the one destined for Chatham came to me, so the seller had arranged for my mirror to come from Chatham and vice versa, it would have been good if they told me this, anyway my mirror was delivered to me this morning and I have now fitted it, I did not change the arms to my original but fitted the complete assembly , my existing arm, [ solid alloy block] would have made the mirror stick out by more than 3 inches than the new assembly and there would have been no adjustment as the block is set for 3 positions out forward or back against the van , so I would have been in the same predicament that I was in before the mirror got smashed, it is really noticeable against the left hand mirror as that sticks out a long way, so I am happy with the result and will now get a new left hand assembly and change to that as well. Are you all sorted with this mirror now ?
Another glitch would be the connecting block for the electrics 7 cables go into the block and the block will need to be cut off the cables to thread the loom through the mirror arm housing and then the block refitting after the new arm was attached and I do not want to remove the block as it could be a problem best avoided ??yes you would need to take it off the van to do it anyway as youwould need to thread the power cable back through the mirror
