Irish Ferry

Good one i was told about warrenpoint by stansky on here, its for trucks but will take c/vans,plus you would be close to the morn mountains newcastle or over the border at newry and a nice we run down to carlingford.

Unfortunately they don't take pets, cheap crossings for those that can take advantage of it though

That's not so good perhaps a few emails would make them re consider if they saw how much business their missing out on. Are there restrictions on animals to Ireland just like going to Europe

There is although they used to take no notice, I have never had the dogs passport checked but I suppose the Ferry Company has to have everything in place whether they use it or not, they charge £30 per dog going to France but I wasn't charged any extra for the dogs the last time I went to Ireland.
Just checked now and they don't mention a charge for dogs, you can even book a free kennel for the crossing, huge difference in price though, £199 single instead of £99 on the link you posted

I believe this is a new service. One of their ferries is new so they may (don't quote me) intend to introduce these changes in stages. Nice to see them getting online though too, which is where everybody's at these days.

There is no need to have a pet passport to travel directly between the UK & Ireland (or Malta and Finland.) When you travel to mainland Europe the fee for dogs is to pay for the processing of the animal as the carrier is responsible to check the animal is allowed to travel to the UK, so in theory there should not be a charge to Ireland as they do not need to do anything and I doubt the weight of a dog or two will affect the fuel consumption on the ferry.

Its ment to be ok as you get a cabin so travel at night and get the head down, anyway when you arrive you will be in gods land close to morne mtn, carlingford, newcastle etc,or a short hop across country to enniskillen and the waterways where you can overnight in carparks.

Anyone tried any of these crossings yet as they seem too good to be true compared to the ferries from Cairnryan.

if I used the Stena ferry for Pembroke to Rosslare @ £119 - and then this service back home from Dublin to Liverpool £79 - (7 hour crossing which includes a shared cabin and a complimentary meal ) it seems very good to me.... as I paid £370 last year return Pembroke-Rosslare-Dublin-Holyhead.

I have just spoken to them on the phone and they say I could change the date with no penalty charge if I needed to do that. However their ships carry a maximum of 12 passengers...... so I guess its mainly a cargo line

Stansky on here has used it and was with me just a while back and said its just fine.

I have to work out if its worth my while financially to drive 150 miles south from Donegal to Dublin then drive 230 miles from Liverpool to Scotland rather than go on Belfast-stranraer ferry....

I think I may have answered by own question here.......
