Best Mobile Broadband

Hi
I'm finally at the stage of going full time.
Is 3 still the best mobile broadband? It looks a brilliant deal compared with my present Tesco account.
However, when you look at the 0845s and stuff it looks a bit scary with some advertised at up to £5 per minute!
Could easily make some expensive calls in error.
As 90% of companies seem to be on 0845------ etc. how do we overcome this?
Thanks

Are you asking about Mobile Broadband or Mobile Phone use ?

You say Mobile Broadband but then talk about calling 0845 numbers ?

3 is still the best for both Broadband & Phone £15 gets you unlimited data 3000 texts 300 mins calls and you cant tether you laptop if you want to call 0845 numbers ect you can download an app say no to 0800 number which will find you landline numbers instead
You could also use the Viber app which will give you free calls and data where ever there is wifi

Hi there you say 3 is the best but i am with virgin and i get 1 gig of internet unlimited text and 1200 mins for 12 quid a month i think thats better than 3 .

I can use 1gb of data in 5 mins a quarter of a film also with tethering It won't go anywhere can anyone actually use 1200 mins talking ?

I agree 1gb is nothing if want to download a film.
I only have 1gb in Portugal at the mo with a European SIM card, best I could get at the time so I use Wii fi to download films and then just use my 1gb when I cant get wi fi to browse forums and the web.
I use Skype to call home which the uk and i just found out about viber, heard you can call through Facebook as well, have to research that one.
3 is three best in my opinion in the uk I was on contract there but now abroad here in portugal, Spain and then on the way back home through France so had to finish it.
Got signal nearly everywhere, except the highlands of Scotland.
Oh and in the Brecon beacons in Wales.

This is what i get for £15.00 plus you can tether

All-you-can-eat data
2,000 minutes
5,000 Three-to-Three minutes.
5,000 texts
Imo it cant be beat

3 is currently the best deal and they have the best coverage.
They started to roll out 4g last week and a friend of mine has it. They are going to give it free to all customers. I get up to 24 meg downloads on my one plan sim, My friend has recorded 100 meg+ downloads!

Forgot to say that this is with 3 lol...duhhhhhh

I've used them all over the years and without a doubt, 3 offer the best data coverage. I have yet to find a hole in their coverage - it seems to work everywhere. Vodafone, Orange and O2 all have poor data coverage in comparison.

As a back up I also use Samba Mobile in the Huwei dongle I got from 3.

If you are using a tablet or dongle and want a 3 sim for mobile broadband there are usually good offers on Amazon, if you buy a 3gb 3 Month sim from three it is £30 but this one from Amazon is £20.62 for the same one, you can buy a 12gb 12 Month sim for £54.50, huge saving over three's prices, I was paying just £11 for 3gb 3Month sim earlier this year but prices have shot up

Thanks everyone

Thanks everyone for the inputs. Sorry for being a bit slow getting back.
This one does look like the best one for me if it's all you can eat data!
Currently pay £17.50/month to Tesco and get nothing like that. (and they have disable tethering)

3 don't always allow tethering. I used to get it on my contract & then it was disabled - they told me it shouldn't have been allowed in the first place, but I think the added the restriction to the contract later. Sadly I couldn't prove it.

for £10pm with 3 but they don't allow tethering, my wife is on PAYG with 3 and she can tether, doesn't make sense to me

I got the impression that people have been getting "all you can eat data" on a monthly contract & then using it instead of WiFi with a laptop at home. Lots of people don't have a fixed phone these days so the cost of Wifi becomes quite high when you add in the landline rental cost. 30 quid a month for a smartphone, calls & data looks good against a landline & broadband connection. On a payg sim you are paying for what you use, so they gain if you use it a lot.
