You must have always been rich if you gave a white note every time you bought something costing a pound.
There was never a white Bank of England £1 note.
The £1 note was originally yellow/gold before being changed to green in the 1920s.
White notes were reserved for higher denominations, primarily the £5

Definitely David. MH and cars I use to do a one off annual payment. Not now, monthly by DD, which makes this move easier, plus I can’t drive camper right now due to an injury.

I think everyone knows the rule now about tax getting cancelled when there is a change of ownership, but I got nice and lucky, oh, around 10 years ago... looked at a VW T5 and it has just been retaxed for the year a couple of weeks earlier. Bought it, did the V5 transfer and for some reason, I got sent the tax refund for 11 months rather then the seller. He didn't know about the auto-cancel so didn't miss not getting it either
I'm even more confused now!
I looked on the gov.uk tax checker, and it says my motorhome tax is next due for renewal on 1st July 2027.
I last paid £171 to renew it on 1 Aug 2025.
Couldn't SORN my van as the DVLA system didn't like the 11 digits on my V5C. No idea why.
So I went into my Banking App and cancelled the DD so same effect (hopefully I will be able to take out new tax with that V5C code??)
