Hello campers!

I was talking today with my eldest Daughter (nearly 18) about movies that I really loved and found she had not seen many of them.

So the question is........

What movies would you recommend people see?

They do not need to be blockbusters, but ones that you feel were really good or important for other reasons.

Here are a few from the past....

Top Gun
Dirty Dancing
Crocodile Dundee
Ghostbusters

A Clockwork Orange

Maybe that says more about me than I'd really like to reveal?

It's a very disturbing film, but a classic. Not the most romantic film ever though!!

Hot Fuzz. I hadn't laughed out loud so much for years.

To kill a mockingbird - "Proper" film

Cider house rules - or anything involving Michael Caine.

What's eating Gilbert Grape - Leonardo DiCaprio when he was an actor.

Life of Brian - You'll never go to Heaven if you laugh.

Polar Express - but only in an Imax cinema in 3D.

The big Lebowski - Probably the sweariest film in the world

Ok, here goes :

Snow dogs (for owners of Border Collies, a funny, exciting kid's film that adults enjoy too)
Labyrinth (I still love this, proper fairytale stuff with a modern (1980's) twist and David Bowie in tights)
Seven brides for seven brothers (Although the story line is somewhat dubious in this day and age - seven women being mass abducted and held prisoner by a bunch of men until they agree to arranged marriages - Doris Day is fab as ever, the songs are "slap my thigh" fun and its a giggle)
The Sound of Music (everyone has to see the SOM at least once in their life)
Highlander (Superb soundtrack, but don't bother with the sequel films)
The Full Monty (one of my all time faves)
Amelie (A lovely happy smiley film)
Breakfast at Tiffany's (classic)
The Matrix Trilogy(I had to watch these several times just to get my head round the plot, fab sci-fi stuff plus Keanu Reeves)
Blues Brothers
Who framed Roger Rabbit ("I'm not bad, I'm just drawn this way...")
A beautiful mind (thought provoking, good insight into schizophrenia)
Dr Zhivago (another classic)
Kill Bill Vols 1 & 2 (she's praps still too young for this)
Trainspotting (ditto above)

I'm sure I can think of some more...
