Are diesel pumps running dry?

I get a call in the first few days of each month asking if want oil (park of a village collective deal). Unfortunately the orange buffoon decided to start this nonsense a couple of days earlier. Not had the call yet and will be interested to hear the price.
Whats wrong with orange men LOL.

Rising in price as warmongers, speculators, ladies of dubious virtue, estate agents and financial markets [in that order] bugger about hyping the problems repeatedly to ensure that they become self-fulfilling prophecies - just in time for your State Pension to become taxable, give or take £25 per annum ...

Steve
I`m already paying tax on my state pension and after the Spring Statement i`ve now found i`ll be paying even more 🤬 😡🤬😡🤬😡

Prices have gone up where we are in Spain Conil and the only queues are at the station selling the lowest priced fuel in the area. This station had a tanker delivery yesterday.

The other 4 stations I drove past yesterday were open with just a single car in each.

So I guess panic over for the moment.

We are not in a peak holiday season so a small town served by 5 petrol stations is probably never going to run dry as the vehicle usuage this time of year is relatively low. Might be different in an area where petrol station numbers to population is significantly lower.

So am I; I was just highlighting that someone who has only the State Pension, and a tiny amount of other income, will pay tax on their State Pension [Those who have only the State Pension will not have to pay tax, so a two tier system, aka a botched mess]

Surely you only pay tax on any amount that you are over the threshold Steve, which is the same for anyone pensioner or not?

My private pension is already over the threshold so I was already paying tax on that so when my state pension kicked in in June it sent me further over the threshold. The extra tax I now owe is taken from my private pension so my state pension is paid in full each month. I have recently received a letter informing me that my tax will be more from April 1st but I presume that is because they know I will get a rise in my state pension of 4.8% (which I have also just been informed of) and I will get a similar rise on my private pension which will also attract more tax.

(I think that's how it works but could be wrong) :)

Just paid £1.45 per Litre for Diesel at our local BP garage. Only me on the forecourt so no queues just yet.

A full tank should last me a couple of weeks or so, we'll know more by then how the future for pricing looks!

I was highlighting the impact of the continuing freezing of the Personal Allowance, Rob, and the outcome of the 2026/27 State Pension increase putting the new amount less than £25 per annum below the Personal Allowance. I am in dispute with HMRC who a] claim that I had elected to receive my Tax Codes electronically [I hadn't]; and b] that they cannot identify me despite registering the Passport [accepted at Border Control] and my Driving Licence [accepted by DVLA/DVSA] and the useless idiots failing to reply within the promised 48 hours, so I am frozen out and cannot get any information on my Tax Codes ... Bloody onanists

Time to register a formal complaint, I think

Ah yes Steve, I see what you mean.

Obviously they have us by the short and curlies one way or another.

True, Rob, but I have just submitted a Formal Complaint. HMRC standard auto reply, 'We aim to reply within 15 working days, but please wait 30 working days before contacting us again. We are currently dealing with a high volume of correspondence so may take longer to deal with your complaint' ...

'Dear HMRC,
a] Employ more staff
b] Get it right first time, on time AND
c] You have a chance of hitting your performance aspirations [because they're way too woolly to be targets]
d] You would all need to be twice as clever to be ranked as bloody halfwits ...

Yours in abject frustration etc
