Are diesel pumps running dry?

It really pisses me off when they put the price of fuel up instanty when something like this happens 🤬 😡🤬😡🤬😡

1, When crude goes up they immediately increase the price at the pumps because it costs them more to buy....... allegedly.

2, When crude goes down the prices takes a while to come down because the fuel was bought a while back at the higher price ........ allegedly.

So , given that it was bought a while back cheaper why does it not take a while for the price to increase when crude goes up ?

Simple profiteering 🤷‍♀️ 😕

Feb 27 JP Morgan predicted a bear market for crude in 2026 with an expected $26/barrel value

Its now $80/barrel and has returned about 26% this year, with it expected to rise as long as the current situation continues JP Morgan now say $105/barrel in the next 6 weeks. If you invested 5 days ago you'd have made 14% in 5 days, that's set to rise day on day until the straights of Hormuz are fully open and safe again, even then it will be another month till supply returns to normal levels. The G7 are not about to lift sanctions on Russian oil. Therefore demand will outstretch supply and prices will rise.

Is investment profiteering, no in my opinion. Is raising prices now on oil purchased some months ago, already refined and already in the forecourt tanks profiteering? Yes I think it is.

What ever you view on the politics of the current situation (and I'm staying well clear of that) the logistics surrounding oil has fundamentally changed. But the lead time from issuing licences to extract oil from the North Sea to that oil hitting the forecourts pretty much rules North Sea oil out for now.

After yesterdays queuing, out of curiosity, I am going to check out the local situation later after the Spanish rain stops.

After all you can only fill up once (aledgedly).

Its probably social media and thread titles like this one that cause panic buying! :D

Just by luck, the cars full, heating oil tanks full, Motorhome is nearly empty but its a 27 mile round trip to the nearest garage for the van so its going to have to rise considerably to make that one worthwhile. I remember when it rose to £2 a litre when the war in Ukraine kicked off. There isn't much you can do about it if its sustained. You might get one full tank at the lower price if you time it well but its getting you eventually unless you stop driving.

If I had known yesterday when I took the van in for service and drove past several filling stations that were all normal I bet I could have saved myself 30p

Julie has just gone out in the car and it's getting near to empty. She won't worry about the fuel prices at the pump in the slightest, or the queues (if there are any).

No, she'll bring it back even more emptierer and leave it for me to refuel it later. :(

Glad we had the oil tank filled up on Friday.

Not that we thought about it, the supplier gets a message from the sensor when we are running low. :)
I get a call in the first few days of each month asking if want oil (park of a village collective deal). Unfortunately the orange buffoon decided to start this nonsense a couple of days earlier. Not had the call yet and will be interested to hear the price.

I was expecting you to finish with "and she told me she hadn't seen any changes. Puts in a tenners worth as usual and it still cost a tenner" :)

What has happened to our wonderful North Sea oil and gas ?????
Rising in price as warmongers, speculators, ladies of dubious virtue, estate agents and financial markets [in that order] bugger about hyping the problems repeatedly to ensure that they become self-fulfilling prophecies - just in time for your State Pension to become taxable, give or take £25 per annum ...

Filled up at Plenergy in Villajoyosa on Monday at €1.239/L (£1.09/L), next day it was €1.339/L but no queues.
But if you do experience vehicles waiting to refill, just instruct them to try the furthest pump, by shouting, 'Far queue, far queue!' and see what develops ... :ROFLMAO: Asda Kirkcaldy still £1.397 per litre, so my 59 litre refill 3 days ago was *only* some £18 more expensive, or about 75 miles more distance that I could have covered ... Happy days!
