Are you talking about the 1.0 turbo car?

If so run away from it as fast as you can and count yourself lucky

They are renowned for engine overheating issues, so bad the engine cannot be repaired they have to be scrapped.
Also if it is the oil bath cam belt version, the Kevlar belt wears away over time, losing particles of rubbery belt into the oil passages, eventually clogging them up and again scrapping the engine.

My mechanic pal has seen rather too many of them and has warned me off them.
 
Always buy a estate car, when selling it on every dog walker plumber painter and diy person will be standing with cash to buy.

When I was looking for a cheap run around a year ago I came across the same engine in the fiestas I think and yes they call it the Eco boom! Shame as on paper they look fun in a little car. I got a Suzuki Swift 1.2 in the end having done extensive research on reliability and its an absolute hoot. Had it a year now and its been pretty good so far.

Yeti is a supurb bit of kit but out of my price range.

I`m looking at the 1.5 diesel turbo.

Thats what most mechanics say as well, or at least they have to me. Anything diesel after 2009 unless you do a lot of motorway miles should be avoided.

I only ever had one diesel car and it was a MK4 Golf from the last century. Absolute stonker of a car. The electrics let it down in the end but the 1.9tdi engine would probably have continued working another 100 years.
 
Mechanics have always advised against anything new especially on Diesel engines, they were bound to be right one day.
In the 90's mechanics advised against direct injection, as it gradually replaced indirect injection in light diesels, they absolutely hated common rails as it became common in the 00's and they detest anything ad blue related 😂 I think the mechanics day of being right is well and truly here.

The 1.9 was the best of the best, later 2 ltr was not half the engine.

Thats how i escaped from jail, i sawed my bed in half, then joined it up again, two halfs make a hole, i jumped out the hole and shouted to i was whorse, jumped on my horse and got away.
Maybe time for bed before the nurse calls the doc again for another jab. :oops:
