Couldn't think of a better title. Last night when I made up the front dinette bed Michelle had stacked some stuff on one of the cushions and in her glasses case she had stored her most cherished possession, a ring given to her by her long departed father on her 21st birthday. Don't ask me why. Anyway it teetered off the cushion and slid down the seat belt cavity on the top corner of underneath the seat marked with the green arrow on the images. You can get a hand in centrally at the bottom as you may also see but we can't find it. I found the glasses case and eventually the glasses themselves as they had also fallen out but no ring.

No amount of feeling about has located it. I Don't think it can escape out of the van as the only exit hole is in the bottom of that locker nowhere near where it fell and I bunged that with a cork.

So I think that wood around the area needs to come up. Do you think it will be just those brown plastic screw covers and if I prize them up I will be able to unscrew and remove that section?

If there is a toolstation or similar nearby, try investing in an endoscope. They aren’t too expensive and very useful for looking into hard too reach places, I keep one in the van and have used it twice with success both times.

The one I have is a Draper model which connects to your phone or tablet via an app but you can get them with a screen too.

An added benefit of the endoscope will be that if you don't find it, Michelle will be able to perform Colonoscopies on you.

Seriously though, I hate losing things, really annoys my OCD. I wish you luck in finding it.

Worth a bit of cable and a blob of blutack and a bit of blind fishing?

Couldn't agree more Allan, got me out of many scrapes.

You can also get them with hook attachments or magnets to retrieve small lost objects. Had it been her wedding ring that Barry had bought her which had gone missing I would have suggested the magnet.

Might be better with something stickier than blutack - maybe a bit of double sided sticky tape, or evostik before it completely dries?

What a flaming nightmare. I tried and failed miserably to gain access by taking it all to bits but its just impossible. Well it is for me. I did get the small panel off under the seat on the side of the window. Well out far enough to shine a torch down and it doesn't look like its made it around the corner but you cannot lift out the top bit which has the hinged lid on it I dont think without taking the bed support out and you cant do that without either a right angled screwdriver if such a thing exists or removing the entire safety belt cage which there is no way I am doing. I took all the screws and fittings out I could and nothing would budge. Its like it was designed by a sadist.

The only hope now is it moves and jiggles itself somewhere we can find it when we move the van to the next location, probably Saturday. Endoscope is a good idea though. Will try and get hold of one. Preferably one that can stick to stuff as finding it is no help unless we can then grab it.

I reckon you'll manage to get it to bits or buy an Endoscope and then it will turn up in the bathroom or Galley.

Glad you found a new use for the Cava cork anyways. :)

I don't think ill get it to bits Rob but at least if we can locate it we might stand a chance of wiggling it out. I have found about four euros in coins so far though. Not ours I might add.

Magnets do they work on gold.

Look this true story up about the lost ring b17 crash cavehill just behind my home.

Might be better with a screwdriver bit in a socket Barry?

I might have those as well somewhere. I think we will wait and see if it reveals itself on Saturday first. Its an absolute ball ache working down there. Endoscope might be worth trying first as well if I can get one.

OH NO,
I genuinely feel for you, It’s actually MORE than Annoying isn’t it.

Try a scaling down the size of a vacuum pipe to a bit of Heavy duty Hoze pipe & see if that helps.of a really powerful Vacuum nozzle.
I use similar under the engine in my Engine bay on the Boat & Found ALL sorts of ‘Long Lost’ stuff & Treasure 🏴‍☠️
