IS OUR POTENTIAL PURCHASE TO LONG (?!)

I guess this is relative, if you’ve only ever driven a car a 6m van must be stressful to start with. But if your used to driving trucks an 8m van is a doddle.

This is where I love our choice of demountable motorhome on a Toyota Hilux. 6.3 metres long or a bit more with the bike rack in use. But it has the high ground clearance of the Hilux, pretty good clearance angles front and back and the bonus of 4WD and hi / low ratio, and diff lock if you get really stuck.

We like to explore minor roads to get to remote places, and one such road this week I feel certain many of the longer lower MH's I see on sites would have grounded the rear overhang just on these public roads.

This is us a few days ago. I doubt many MH's would have the ground clearance for the rear overhang to clear that grass hump and thus fit into a normal car space (a requirement to be able to park in that particular spot)

My wagon is 22.5ft or 6.858met, ok most places in ireland, but some tight twisty mtn roads are just about on the edge, many small roads are 3.5 ton max weight, tor head rd springs to mind up antrim coast rd.

Yes, actual confidence is no problem, I was just concerned we wouldn't find enough wild sleeping in van overnight park ups now we're potentially "going large". 😁

Hi ProDave. As I work on the PTS ambulances I'd love to see a picture of your "bile rack". Sorry couldn't resist, love the old predictive text 🙄

I used to have a pair of Raydyot fireball spot lamps, they were great👍

TBH
I do find that in general the information that’s relevant or required by an ‘OPs’ opening post is often commented on by others & positively advances in this general direction.
YES Humour & Off topic comments then creep in. But THIS can often serve to keep interest in the thread so others can join in. It inevitably reverts back to be on Topic at some point.
Now,
What wher we talking about 🤔
