Decent cup of tea.

Ok. Now for the controversy. I started using Typhoo QT instant when it first came out as it was a perfect fit for proper (under canvas) camping. Milk already in it. No tea leaves or bags to chuck away. When I go to Morrisons for a breakie, I pay for a cuppa but carry my own jar of qt. It did disappear for a while but when it eventually came back I started to stock pile by the tray full. £1.00 jar Tesco.s. Just getting ready for the Spain trip and stocked the van up. (y)

Decent Earl Gray leaf tea, no milk, no sugar, no lemon. Just pure tea.
That tastes like washing up water to me.

Any old bog standard tea bag in a mug. Pour boiling water on, squish the bag against the side of the mug twice then take it out. Add about a teaspoon of milk.

With all these compostable tea bags they do split easily though, so I'm having to be more careful with my squishing.

I will try it to be honest.

I'm not well known for having a discerning palate. :)

Never tasted washing up water, but I prefer tea without additives like milk - detracts from the pure taste. If it's a caffeine blast you're after, then double espresso fits the bill.

The worst tea has got to be Lapsang souchong (had to look up the right spelling :) ) .
Smells and tastes of cigarette butts and ashtrays. Totally disgusting :sick:
Earl Gray is nowt special really either IMO. Best option is simply 'English Breakfast Tea' and the various versions of that.

However, I do quite like a Chai Latte from the Tassimo machine 🫖

I guess it depends on who the average customer is? The way YOU make tea I would find totally undrinkable. And clearly the way I like MY tea you would hate.
Who is right? Neither is right.
Maggy has one roibos and one green tea bag together in a mug, it has to be strong, her sister puts an earl grey teag in for 20 seconds and thinks it tastes lovely, if I liked it like that I would reuse the teabag five times but she just disposes of it
so I'm having to be more careful with my squishing.
That is always a good idea 🤔

My Tea making is ... get two mugs out the cupboard; tea bag in #1; boiling water in and quick stir; tea bag out after around 30 seconds and put in mug #2 for next cup :)
Do that for Ringtons, but Typhoo Tea bags are only good for one mug of tea I have found.

Red Bush Tea was recommended to me a few years ago but I just didn't like it.

Matcha Tea is meant to be the big thing currently, due to Tik-Tok influencers I believe, and apparently shortages due to the hype. Been meaning to give that a go some time.
And also Bubble Tea (another trendy one) is supposed to be nice.

My standard brand is Ringtons. Proper Northumberland tea, not that rubbish Yorkshire stuff :D (seriously, I don't like Yorkshire Tea. Guess it mut be an aquired taste?).
Delivered to the door.

They've changed the options around but my current one is the 'Traditional' One Cuppa ones - https://www.ringtons.co.uk/products/ringtons-traditional-cuppas-tea-bags . Get just about two mugs out of one of those ;) (Used to get the 'Muggables' which had an easy 2 mugs from them)

Always taste better with a warm pork pie but for good tea you need Yorkshire Water.Alf

I did some work for a couple from Glasgow quite recently and the lady of the couple always carried bottles of Glasgow water (around 10 litres I think?) in the motorhome specifically for when making tea and no one was allowed to use it for anything else :D

Earl Grey was specifically created to be made with the water supply at the Earl's Howick Hall estate in Northumberland.

Don't know if the water is still the same as they were using back then... doubt it, but it might be. But could now be on mains water from Northumbrian Water, but if it is still the original water supply, then that would be best place to drink it, I guess?

They have a public cafe at the hall these days and Earl Grey tea will certainly be on offer as a beverage. Never been into their cafe to try it, tbh, but this tea talk has got me thinking now... we're staying up very near there in a couple of weeks and It's made me fancy another visit now. It's 20 years since I last visited the gardens there... 🤔 (y)

Hey, Your Marieness, if you do go, keep your eyes open please, to see if a small wheeled wheelchair could cope with the pathways.

Will do, although you may not be able to get around the whole place as a lot of it is woodland and in a small valley, so lots of ups and downs.

If I do go, I'll definitely report back on access (y) :)
