What brought this on was my wife was on YouTube where she saw a video showing a site in Newquay who were charging ………..£92 a night. Thats £644 a week.

Well all I can say is, if your daft enough to pay prices like that, then hell scud it into you.

On Saturday we are off to the CCC site in Dunbar grass only £21 a night. That fits the bill. Sunday night it’s fish and chips in Adrianos, one being enough for both of us and it’s delicious at £11 for a breaded fish supper.View attachment 144652

I remember about 10 years ago we were on a THS in Cornwall,paying £10.50 PUN.
When the THS finished,we still had another week before we went home.We contacted reception and asked how much it would be to stay on the same pitch,£33.50 PUN.
If we left the rally field and went on to the commercial side of the site……£60 PN !! + £5 per night for each dog.
I was taking the dogs for a walk and as I walked out of the rally field I saw a guy putting up his awning, I asked if he needed a hand but he said he was fine,anyway,on the way back I got talking to him,£1000 for 2wks for him and his wife and 3 sons ,now,he’s taken his own accommodation and they’re charging £1000 feckin pounds now That’s taking the p..s.
The irony is that he could have gotten a 6berth static for £920 for the fortnight !!!
 
C&MC has a severely bloated management/executive tier nowadays which needs paying, dontcha know! 😄

And, more often than not, employing uniquely unqualified wardens who shouldn't really be in customer-facing roles - or many other kinds of roles, "life skills" having passed many of then by, no matter their ages :rolleyes:🤷‍♀️

Like a lot of poorly run, overly greedy operations (oligarchs aside), in 2025 it's quite often that old chestnut of "more Chiefs than Indians".

I left the C&MC several years ago, no intention of joining again before my mortal demise. I'll take my chances elsewhere, ty 🙏

I have given it much thought over the years Marie, and came to the conclusion that I would simply be cutting my nose of to spite my face. They do have a few sites we like, and there are thousands of CLs which give us options. But they are clearly anti wild camping and openly take part in moves to ban us from some locations including New England Bay in Dumfries and Galloway.
But they charge more than their main competitors the CC, there service and facilities are no better than theirs, and they claim to be a non profit organisation, who take annual fees whilst charging the same if not more than independents who run for a profit. Seems there’s some creative accounting going on.

I’m in both main clubs. I look on Search For Sites in an area I want to go, then pick a site that suits me for location and price. A mixture of CLs, CSs, C&CC main sites, private sites large and small, pubs, Aires or wild…but almost never a CMC main site. I’m a bit flash with the cash but I can’t fashion to pay the prices they’re often charging.

I did have to hoover a load of sawdust out last week before going to Dorset. It was from having the Diesel heater fitted.
